Are Government Regulations and Protections the Actual Swamp?

It occurred to me today while I was videoing the latest edition of Somewhat Daily Tarot and Rune that draining the swamp is a matter of perspective. From the perspective of the average individual, draining the swamp meant that the new guy would go after corruption within the ranks. However, that doesn’t seem to be what’s happening.

Instead, he seems to be filling said swamp with all sorts of nefarious swamp creatures all while claiming he’s making the country great again. But if the corruption is only increasing, maybe we should be looking at his definition of the swamp.

Could this be a matter of perspective? Could it be that simple? Is it that the very rich among us have such a different perspective that draining the swamp is really about ending the regulations and protections that prevent them from making unlimited amounts of money at the expense of the environment, workers, and safety? Do the regulations and protections the current occupant of the Oval Office is removing constitute the actual swamp?

Environmental protections are being shredded and whatever passed for justice is now circling the drain. Checks and balances are gone and now fear and grievance has replaced hope and shared purpose.

For whatever reason, we evidently need to see the negative effect on steroids so that we really get it through our heads that our future is in shared purpose together. And whether or not we’ll feel that the struggle was worth it or even necessary will be revealed sometime down the road.

But for the time being, we need to stay focused on the end goal which is righting the ship. It won’t be a return to normal because we’re past that now. But it may be a new place to begin. One that leaves behind the isms of life and recognizes their destructive impact.

The sad thing is that he likely knew exactly what he was doing in his misdirection. How he must have been thrilled to see everyone fall in line and chant drain the swamp in unison. How he must have laughed at everyone knowing all along that they had no understanding of its true meaning.

No, the swamp reflects the regulations and protections that prevent people like him from strip-mining the world, not the so-called deep state that he warns about. Instead, he behaves more like a spokesman, frontman, or shill for the dreaded deep state as it secures and reinforces its tentacles even further into our lives.

He’s their guy. He was never ours.

And he and his divisive ilk must go.
