It’s Just Too Much

I turned on the House Judiciary Committee meeting to listen to the Lewandowski hearing and became so upset with the behavior of the Republicans that I had to turn it off. It’s just too much. Their behavior is really that shameful and I can’t watch these people obstruct the truth any longer.

We’re no farther now than we were before the last midterm election where Democrats handily took back the House from Republican control. The Republicans are so in the bag for their nutjob-in-chief that they refuse to see how they’re tearing our country apart. But it’s really more than that. It’s doubtful that they even consider the other side (the rest of us) as relevant at all.

The lies and hyperbole make me want to walk up to each one of them and slap them silly. Obviously, that’s not an option, but it does express how I feel. I’m sick of listening to their endless lies and obfuscations. Nothing they say makes any sense and their vitriol makes them and our country look so small. But they’re on a roll and they won’t stop until they’re gone.

The nutjob-in-chief apparently believes that he decides what people who have worked for him can and cannot say or do with respect to his behavior. Lewandowski doesn’t work at the White House and although legal scholars all say no privilege extends to him, said nutjob still believes he can decide whether or not Lewandowski, and others who have worked for him, will answer the House Judicial Committee’s questions. And if Democrats seek court action, with the current packing of our various Courts, we have no idea whether or not our Constitution will be protected or it won’t.

We worry about what other countries will do to begin wars and how that will affect the United States. However, I believe that’s the least of what we should be worried about. I think the clear and present threat exists right in the Oval Office and in the Republican Party.

They’re playing the long game here with the soul and direction of our country up for grabs by the highest bidder. Unless they’re removed from power at the next election, our country will never be the same again. And when it all settles out, will the nutjob’s supporters believe any of this was worth it? Especially when they realize just how used they were in the process?

However, for today, it’s just too much.

It will likely be the same tomorrow. And other than voting in 2020 and writing something here, I really don’t know what to do anymore. Except that my husband is making vanilla carmel ice cream. It’s yummy. I guess I’ll stress-eat some of that.
