Abandoning Those Who Stood For Us
How do we abandon those who stood for us? Yet that’s exactly what Donald has done. The toddler-in-chief had a convo with his bro in Turkey and now the Kurdish fighters who fought on our behalf against ISIS are now in grave danger of dying all because the toddler is so taken with dictators that he gleefully does their bidding.
Like any child with goals, our toddler apparently longs to be a tyrant, a dictator, or a king except that he can’t stay present in the role for any longer than the time it takes for a couple of dozen tweets. He caves at the slightest negative comment and takes no responsibility for the damage he causes.
He seeks assistance from other countries, bothering them for dirt, real or imagined, on former Vice President Joe Biden, who may or may not be the next Democratic candidate for President, most recently holding military aid approved by Congress unless Ukraine’s new president (a comedian no less) agrees to do the toddler’s bidding.
And then, he has the audacity to be shocked that an impeachment inquiry has begun. His attorneys are all either ignoramuses or they’ve forgotten the words, I quit, the latest 8-page letter to Speaker Pelosi all the evidence we need of their confusion over what defending a client actually entails, Rudy Giuliani’s behavior a perfect example.
More than anything else, I suppose for me that’s the most incredible aspect of all of this, that people who should know better are going all-in for someone who allegedly both launders money for the Russian mafia and engages in all manner of predatory behavior. How can evangelical Christians support this man when he cares nothing for them? How can they believe anything he says? He needed their vote. That’s all it was for him.
Sending people to their certain death to satisfy the desires of a dictator buddy is alarming. It would be nice if some of our former military generals would speak out, but none so far have done so. But then, our toddler-in-chief doesn’t listen to anyone because, in his great and unmatched wisdom, he knows it all.
Time will tell just how much damage our dictator-wannabe will do before he’s no longer destroying what’s left of our country’s integrity and resolve. Eventually, the confusion will subside and clarity will return and we’ll finally understand not only what happened, but why. There will be the requisite soul-searching and in all likelihood a reluctant truce until enough time has passed and memories fade.
Eventually, the nightmare will be over and life will return to some semblance of normalcy, but we can never forget just how close we’ve come to our country falling apart at the hands of a conman and lunatic. We tend to look for saviors when that role belongs to each one of us. And collectively, we’re a force to be reckoned with, so it’s time we demanded a government that we can trust instead of one that self-deals and in the end, self-terminates.
Blessed Be
