Monthly Tarot for March 2020
March is here and it’s time again to look at the tarot cards for the month. I’m using the Haindl deck and same six-card spread I used last month for a general outlook. The spread and breakdown appear below.
The Spread
I like to use a six-card spread for most of my Tarot readings because it’s perfect for a general to specific flow of information, creating a funnel effect of sorts. It reminds me of a day planner I’m using that allows me to funnel general and ongoing activities into more specific plans.
The Haindl Tarot deck is an interesting non-traditional deck that incorporates runes and hexagrams from the I Ching to enrichen the divination experience. I like using it for monthly divinations because it contains so much information on each card.
The first level includes the 2 of Cups, 4 of Stones, and the Prince of Stones which Haindl titles the Son of Stones in the West represented by Chief Seattle. Yes, Haindl reimagines the Court using extraterrestrial “deities” and traditional cultural icons, adding further depth to the reading.
The second level consists of The Hermit and the 3 of Stones with the final 3 of Wands as either the outcome or overall view of the reading.
Beginning with the 2 of Cups, Haindl depicts a beautiful peacock gazing down at two golden chalices, seven stars rising from each cup. The first hexagram from the I Ching appears at the bottom left corner of the card suggesting the creative potential derived from balanced integration with others. The 2 of Cups suggests emotional balance and harmony as well as healing and love.
Moving next to the 4 of Stones (Pentacles), we see four perfectly positioned color-stained boulders depicting the four elemental energies expressed in creation. A large, almost transparent tree rises up behind the boulders, its roots visible suggesting connection and foundation. The Arousing, the fifty-first hexagram from the I Ching appears in the upper left-hand corner indicating adaptation in response to disorder, suggesting an intrinsic need for order and a secure foundation.
The Son of Stones in the West is a departure from the traditional Knight or Prince of Pentacles but still retains the practical nature of the individual irrespective of how he’s depicted. A card of Elemental Earth, the Son of Stones is trustworthy, dependable, and acts on behalf of others.
An initial look at the first three cards suggests that we may act in harmony with or on behalf of others this month. A reestablishment of boundaries may occur with increased harmony the result.
The Hermit begins the second level of influence, more specific in its effect than the more general initial level. In The Hermit, harmony is found within as he retreats from the world aligning in Source Presence, A card of Virgo, the Hermit stands atop a mountain, his arms raised in supplication to divinity unseen. Birds surround him and gnomes watch as his lantern draws down the light of Spirit from the Great Central Sun above illuminating all of creation. The Hermit teaches alignment, the value of inner counsel, and renewal in Spirit.
Another card of Elemental Earth, Haindl titles the 3 of Stones Work describing the structure of one’s work or craft. An ancient wooden cross stands behind three rocks arranged in a triangle, its visage blocked by mossy overgrowth. A large bubble peeks out suggesting possibility and renewal from chaos. The Fellowship of Man, the thirteenth hexagram from the I Ching appears in the upper left-hand corner of the card adding the influence of fellowship, collective memory, and integration to the card.
Finally, the 3 of Wands rounds out the six-card reading suggesting energetic alignment in Spirit. Haindl uses three aligned flame-tipped spears to guard the entrance to an ancient temple, an arched window at the top of worn steps. Virtue is the title of the 3 of Wands counseling that a higher perception is necessary for progress. Reinforcing that fundamental truth is the hexagram above, the Cauldron, and the necessity of tradition and continuity in our lives.
The second level of influence for the month builds on the inner harmony experienced in the first three cards, emphasizing the need for alignment in Spirit to inform our interactions with others. The overall numerology of three for the reading as well as for March as the third month of the year suggests the same level of mind/body/spirit alignment.
A calming collective presence is felt in this reading as if the collective consciousness calls us to rise to a new and higher resonance of perception and alignment fostering shared experience and direction. Or perhaps it’s a remembrance that we feel of times past where we shared a common dream, a common purpose. Irrespective of its origin, we have the opportunity to align and begin anew letting the perceived woundings of the past fall away in service to a greater truth.
We are now and will forever be one family, unified in purpose and in our Source.
Blessings to all!
