Monthly Geomancy for April 2020
It’s time again to take a look at the geomancy influences for the new month! I’ll first include a breakdown of the shield chart and then we’ll take a look at each week followed by an overall influence and outcome section.
As you may already know, geomancy is an older earth-style divination method where the runes are discovered by throwing down (in my own case) four runes coded with an element and a single dot on one side and two dots on the other. If you’re interested in the full process, click here to see a post I’ve written on the subject.
Shield Chart Breakdown
- Conjunctio – Air element, Mercury, Virgo; joining, union (wk 1)
- Puer – Fire element, Mars, Aries; young boy, impulsive action (wk 1)

I’ve indicated the weekly placement of each and it looks like we have five runes in Elemental Fire, seven in Element Air, one in Water, and two in Elemental Earth, so there is an emphasis on intellectual or strategic expression this month. Also, there are several geomancy runes that appear along with their complements (Puer/Puella; F Major/F Minor; Albus/Rubeus; Acquisitio/Amissio; and Laetitia/Tristitia), with one set (Puer/Puella) appearing in week one. In fact, they dominate this month’s reading which in my opinion involves reconciliation and/or balance. Let’s look at each week:
Week One
Conjunction, Puer, and Puella combine to create this week’s geomancy influences. In a sense, we’re coming together in shared purpose while we keep our impulse to flee at bay. Puer and Puella are each other’s complement energy and we’re talking about youthful impulse control or the lack thereof. Currently, some people don’t yet understand the need for self-isolation reflecting a narrow vision, possibly youth-oriented, but not necessarily so. Let that attitude go and join with others so that we all survive the pandemic together.
Week Two
Albus, Fortuna Major, and Tristitia comprise week two’s geomancy influences suggesting success predicated on wisdom that overshadows any impulse-control issues experienced last week. If we’re to get ahead of the pandemic, a greater level of self-control will be necessary so that we all support each other in staying well. We’ve experienced enough loss.
Week Three
Passionate Rubeus along with Fortuna Minor and Laetitia comprise the geomancy influences this third week of April. Although Rubeus can be considered an evil influence, this week, it’s providing the impetus for change and asserting one’s position. With Fortuna Minor, it feels like small progress will be made this week, but Laetitia’s joyful presence signals one that is welcome.
Week Four
Puella, Acquisitio, and Cauda Draconis align to create the geomancy influences for week four suggesting a week that involves favorable endings. Get outside if the weather is nice (safely, of course) and let your Spirit soar! Allow Puella’s youthful and somewhat scattered energy to shake off any frustrations that may have built up over the month and embrace the joy of Spring!
Right/Left Witnesses and the Judge/Outcome
With Conjunctio as the Left Witness, any efforts made this month in the direction of unified action and shared purpose could change the outcome of the pandemic in our favor. While we cannot replace the missed efforts and time to deal more productively and expediently with the pandemic or the loved ones we’ve now lost, we can change the future by letting go of division and vitriol and coming together in shared purpose.
Blessings to all!
