Possible Glitch in WordPress When Using/Editing Reusable Blocks
I like the idea of reusable blocks so I saved a two-column block as reusable to automate the structure of my Esoteric Influences posts. I also intended to use them in various series that are coming on the blog. However…and it’s a big however, today I discovered that each time I update a block, it updates the same in prior posts as well.
Yes…this is a nightmare and I’m not going to go back and change each post I’ve done this for other than the posts for this current week. But for other bloggers, especially those who use marketing on their blogs to alert customers of sales, etc, this could be horrible.
So, I’ll go back to listing each esoteric influence separately as I did in the beginning of the series to avoid any further unwanted changes to past posts. I only used them to avoid having to re-set up the structure of the posts so it’s not a big deal, except that it really is a big deal.
I’ve tweeted my issue to the great folks at WordPress so that if I’m trying to do something that cannot be done, hopefully they’ll enlighten me. Or at least, if I’ve found a glitch, they can fix it.
I’ll sticky this at the top of the blog for a while to alert anyone else who might need to know.
