Favorable/Unfavorable for Magick ~ neutral – With the Moon governing magicks today and with the Full Moon approaching on the 24th, carve the rune Berkano into a white candle, light it, and then gaze into the candle’s flame, observing its flame effect and direction. A strong flame indicates powerful energy at work while a weak flame indicates lost focus or opposition fro others. If you have trouble lighting the candle, or it won’t light at all, then an intrusion may be occurring, while an erratic flame indicates an unstable influence. If the flame moves toward the north, it may indicate a physical manifestation; East, an intellectual manifestation; South, will or passion is manifesting; and, West, something emotional is manifesting. Add some moonstone or selenite on the altar and burn myrrh in the cauldron and use the candle to manifest healing and new beginnings.
Summer Solstice is also today and if you didn’t celebrate on the weekend, you may wish to celebrate or work a ritual for growth and eventual good harvest today. Work in the garden or plant some flowers and then grill some food on the barbeque. You’re limited only by your imagination or tradition.

I view Berkano as the Earth Mother rune, pregnant with new possibilities whether it be the birth of a child or bringing a new project to completion. Berkano also involves more than new beginnings. It indicates healing and growth are possible. Raidho suggests integration or collaboration with others while Fehu, as both the sending rune and a rune of wealth, casts the intention for success.
Lunar position – Scorpio, Summer Solstice – Although Mercury Retrograde ends tomorrow and interactions with others may smooth out, you need to choose your words carefully today so that misunderstandings are kept at a minimum.
