Courage and Strength through Adversity
The Woodward from the Wildwood Tarot represents a guardian of strength, courage, and protection during moments of challenge and adversity. He waits patiently, a Linx next to him while he demonstrates his power and resolve with a mountain lion skin he wears on his head. Bloodstones represent strength while the rose expresses the strength found in love.
The runes, Tiwaz, Ehwaz, Laguz, Isa, and Jera each express strength in their own way. Tiwaz represents the spiritual warrior within while Ehwaz expresses integration with others. Laguz comprises Ehwaz in its forward and reversed presentation invoking the flow of Spirit into our relationships with others. Both take the inner strength expressed by the Norn rune, Isa, and its alignment in higher awareness. Finally, Jera indicates energetic alignment and unfolding awareness. All energies transform our ability to meet challenges and adversity. The bindrune below the card brings all runic energies together to rise above difficulties, while Hecate’s wheel above the card represents protection, renewal, and transformation giving us the courage to press on and face our inner fears.
The Hag stone in the upper left-hand corner represents the seer within whose understanding and vision transcends the immediate issue or concern. Looking through one of its holes takes us to possibility and a better outcome.
The arrangement is both an altar and a spell that when cast brings the inner strength necessary when difficulties we experience seem insurmountable. It keeps our focus in line with higher awareness so we move beyond fear and into the light. It can also be used as a healing spell. The bindrune can be carried as a talisman of strength and protection.
