Tarot Card of the Week ~ 30 October to 5 November 2022
The 10 of Wands in the Thoth Tarot is titled Oppression and is represented by eight identical wands crossed together in an X pattern, with two more ornate and identical wands appearing upright before them. The glyphs for Saturn and Sagittarius appear on the card as well with flames visible behind the wands. A fiery background completes the picture.
The astrological and planetary glyphs really define the scene with the notion of control evident, but in this case, the control is oppressive or cruel in nature. Unlike the traditional rendition of the 10 of Wands, this one seems to prevent the viewer from moving forward whereas the Rider-Waite version seems to suggest carrying a heavy burden or trusting the process. The Thoth version seems to shout, NO ENTRANCE. And here, we don’t dare enter.
Consider if you oppress others, or perhaps yourself. How does that feel in the body? It’s likely fear-based and what your body says can give you insight into the origins of that choice. Do you feel panic or exhilaration? This could portend a moment of great healing if viewed properly.
