Tarot Card of the Week ~ The Pole Star
The Pole Star in the Wildwood Tarot replaces the traditional Star card from the Rider-Waite deck. Instead of the Goddess pouring water on both the land and water, it shows a man walking on a path in the forest comprised of gnarled trees, while smaller stars swirl around Polaris above. Instead of wishing upon a star, here the man uses the light of the star, an unseen or higher force, to guide his path forward. As the path ahead appears to split, the man relies on his soul’s higher awareness to know which direction to take.
Like The Star in the Rider-Waite, The Pole Star represents guidance and inspiration, and the hope that the path we’re on is righteous and correct. Are we following our true destiny or do we ignore higher wisdom and become lost along the way? Like the scene in The Pole Star illustrates, the path we’re on may be winding and full of challenges and unknown outcomes; however, we trust our inner voice to tell us what we need to know.
Are we guided by the ego’s reaction or by higher awareness? Or will we take the path that brings the most knowledge and experience so that our spiritual awareness evolves? Essentially, the Pole Star asks us if we have the faith in a higher purpose to carry on.
