Exploring Tarot: 2 of Cups
In this departure from the traditional Rider-Waite deck, the Black Tarot depicts the 2 of Cups as a form of energetic entanglement. Instead of a lion’s head atop a caduceus separating the man and the woman, we see the soul’s energy radiating forth with the glyphs for Venus and Mars in its center. Instead of a man and woman coming together in healing, we see the astral structure of the soul as it balances its masculine and feminine polarity in physical form. Two cups appear on the left and right sides at the bottom of the card, with loving energy vibrating upward toward its source.
If we interpret the card from the standpoint of the traditional version of the 2 of Cups as an offering of healing or reciprocity from the man to the woman, the energetic entanglement might actually invoke the higher energetic force and create an energetic bond between the two people.
Similar to The Lovers from the Major Arcana, the 2 of Cups manifests a new relationship or strengthens and/or heals an existing one. It suggests seeking emotional balance, along with friendship and love.
