As Above, So Below for Monday, 14 August 2023
Reading Notes
Significator Runes: Ansuz (4th rune, Odin’s rune, divinity, eloquence, divine message, Spirit communication, Higher self, clarity) and Via (path, way, intention, independence, complement of Populus)
Cards: 9 of Pentacles (9, Earth, Minor Arcana), Ace of Cups (1, Water, Minor Arcana), Knight of Wands (Fire, Court)
Overall Numerology: 5 (4+9+1=14 reducing to 5) – protection, pentagram (all elements plus Spirit), change, freedom versus restriction. Also, which I didn’t mention in the video, the day is the 14th, so there’s a synchronicity with the overall numerology of the reading.
On the above or higher self side of the significator runes, we have Ansuz, along with Via, the geomancy rune representing the below or ego side suggesting that a new path is opening today that may involve a more spiritual focus or engagement with others.
Moving on to the cards, the 9 of Pentacles illustrates a woman of means wearing a beautiful robe with nine pentacles stacked up on the ground below her. One hand rests on a pentacle (coin) on her right while she holds a hooded falcon on her gloved left hand. A wall of grapes rises behind her suggesting abundance and material security. A castle is off on the right side of the card behind her. And two trees rise on either side of the card suggesting both growth and balance. The 9 of Pentacles suggests abundance and wealth, security, comfort and a peaceful life. The numerology of the nine implies not only spirituality and generosity, but also endings and completion. So we can say that this is a life well-lived and it’s culminating in an abundant and peaceful place in her life.
Next, we have the Ace of Cups. The Aces are aways about the genesis of something, and in this card, it’s about the genesis of new emotional awareness. We see a hand reaching out from a cloud holding a large golden cup. Five streams of water pour forth into the lily pond below as the water nourishes our emotional presence. A dove drops a disc with a cross on it into the cup suggesting the balance between the soul and physical reality. The Ace of Cups expresses the divinity within (aligning well with Ansuz) as well as the genesis of compassion, love, empathy, etc. in your life. The one numerology suggests new beginnings and along with the overall five numerology for the reading, it suggests a change in what we need to feel fulfilled.
Has the woman in the 9 of Pentacles gone as far as she can and now she’s being drawn to something more in her life with the Ace of Cups? Is she awakening to the truth of who she is as a soul having this earthly experience and now she wants to extend herself in love, compassion, and generosity to others?
Lastly, the Knight of Wands rides in as his horse rears up, excited to be on this journey, this new adventure, through the Holy Land with the Knight. We see salamanders on the Knight’s tunic that curl around to reach their tails in ouroboros fashion yet, for the most part, none find that purchase. Instead, like the Knight, it appears that the salamander’s journey isn’t over. The Knight of Wands is filled with passion and will, and is ready to risk it all on behalf of others. The pyramids signal the Knight’s journey or quest is spiritual in nature. And the card counsels the querent to take a risk that might be outside his or her comfort zone, or at least outside the individual’s normal life.
Summation
After achieving some financial or material security, you may be compelled to take a different path forward that involves higher awareness or spirituality. Something has awakened within you and it’s driving you forward to engage with others in a manner that reflects love, compassion, empathy, that is in service to others. Regarding the aspect of Ansuz that involves eloquence, perhaps a path opens that involves public speaking, but whatever the path is, it is opening because you are in a position to share yourself in a way that provides help and assistance to others. It begins in divinity and higher awareness but then it expands into extending yourself to others, even if it’s something as simple as stopping by and admiring a neighbors yard. That interaction may make your neighbor’s day. It could be expressed in random acts of kindness that may mean nothing to you but could mean everything to someone else. It’s changing your vision, your focus, your intention to something that reflects the soul that you are and the higher awareness you already possess.
