Exploring Tarot: 5 of Pentacles
The 5 of Pentacles depicts two people walking next to a building during a snowstorm. A shorter man (or boy) is using crutches with his head and one foot bandaged, while the other taller person (possibly a woman) is wearing a tattered cloak and walking barefoot with one foot bandaged. A stained glass window with five pentacles arranged in a tree pattern on the side of the building suggests it’s a church of some kind.
The card’s five numerology can indicate change, and, if this is a mother and her son, it’s possible that they’ve lost their home. Perhaps they’ve been homeless for a while and they’ve experienced hardship, struggle, and physical injury. A card of destitution, either the people don’t realize the church is there, or, because there isn’t a doorway visible, they feel unwelcome and that no help is possible.
When the 5 of Pentacles appears in a reading, it suggests the querent is experiencing change, perhaps profound in nature, where s/he is finding it necessary to handle the experience on his/her own.
