As Above, So Below for Monday, 11 December 2023
The reading notes for today’s reading are below. You’re welcome to watch the video here.
Significator runes: Raidho (soul journey, partnership, process over goal, harmonious movement, integration, rhythm, cycles, justice, Air); Conjunctio (union, joining, collaboration)
Cards: 6 of Pentacles, Ace of Pentacles, 3 of Wands
Patterns: A run on Pentacles (Earth element, material security, finances, physical reality)
Overall numerology: 5+6+1+3=15; 1+5=6 (guidance, assistance, empathy, harmony, leadership, responsibility, service to others)
Raidho and Conjunctio are the significator runes for today’s reading. Raidho, the 5th rune from the Elder Futhark, describes integration with others and valuing the process over the goal. Conjunctio, the geomancy rune that describes union, joining, and collaboration, reinforces this integration. As the significators of today’s reading, both runes suggest that it’s the collaborative process with others that will yield success. This was also part of the overall picture of Thursday’s reading from last week.
Today’s cards are the 6 of Pentacles, Ace of Pentacles, and the 3 of Wands, so right away, we see a run on Pentacles, an Earth element suit that involves physical and material security. And with the reading’s numerology of six, how we express empathy, guidance, or assistance may be an issue.
Looking first at the 6 of Pentacles, we see a man of means offering coins to a man on the ground while the other man waits for his share (assuming he’s getting something). The man of means is standing above the other two men, his body turned to the man he’s offering coins to while holding a scale in his left hand. However, a closer look shows us that the scale is almost behind his back, or at least out of his sight, suggesting that he wants to appear compassionate, but maybe it’s more about how it makes him look instead of what he can do to actually help the two men. In fact, the six pentacles on the card aren’t in balance either. With respect to Raidho and Conjunctio, there isn’t any real integration between the three men and it’s clear that the man standing is in control of the men’s lives at this point.
Next, the Ace of Pentacles describes a new path toward material security. Clearly, the man in the 6 of Pentacles really isn’t interested in helping the two men find their own material security; however, the Ace may be suggesting that he needs to shift his perception to understand what finding material security really entails. We see a hand reaching out from a darkened cloud holding a large coin with energy emanating around the hand. This represents higher awareness that helps the man take a new path that begins with a pure heart as represented by the lilies that align the path. The path leads to an archway attached to hedgerows on either side with mountains visible on the other side. Aces reflect the genesis of something new, and with the man’s new perspective, he may begin to understand that a shift in how he sees material security may open not only a new path for himself, but also for his family, the people he helps, or works with.
Dependency may also be a factor in the reading. In the 6 of Pentacles, the two men are dependent upon the grace of the man of means and he’s not really approaching that interaction with integrity. He’s the one with the power and he has a choice how he expresses that power. If his family’s security is dependent upon him, or it’s a work situation where others need to have a voice in a decision, for example, how the man engages or integrates with his family or co-workers may need to be reevaluated.
Lastly, the 3 of Wands shows a man of means standing on a hill just beyond two staffs that are embedded in the ground while holding his own staff in his right hand. The two staffs create a doorway into new experiences. The 2 of Wands begins that process by showing a similar doorway that involves a decision the man makes about his future, with the 3 of Wands showing him waiting for his ship to come in, or his new opportunities to manifest.
So, from the new path taken in the Ace of Pentacles, we can surmise from the 3 of Wands that any shifting of attitude or perception by the man in the 6 has resulted in greater material security for himself and possibly others. The card’s three numerology also implies integration with others, so out of a better collaborative experience, whether it’s with family or co-workers, a more successful outcome is possible.
SUMMATION
Power has an interesting impact on people. If you’re accustomed to calling the shots, you may leave out others who need a voice in what happens. If, for example, you make all the decisions in your family, you may only see the situation from your perspective and not include your family’s needs in whatever decision you make. Raidho, along with Conjunctio, suggests that a new understanding is necessary so that all voices are heard. It suggests that you will benefit from focusing on the integrative process with others, instead of trying to control the outcome. And when you do so, a new path may open, with new opportunities available that might have not been possible before.
