As Above, So Below for Thursday, 11 January 2024
The reading notes for today’s reading are below. You’re welcome to watch the video here.
- Significator runes: Fehu (1st rune, cattle, wealth, abundance, life force, growth, success); Caput Draconis (N Node, new beginnings, head of the dragon, on the threshold)
- Cards: 7 of Wands, 9 of Pentacles, 6 of Cups
- Patterns: One card from Earth, Fire, and Water, but none for Air; all cards from the Minor Arcana
- Overall numerology: 1+7+9+6=23; 2+3=5 (change, protection, pentagram, freedom versus restriction, innovation); For the cards alone – 7+9+6=22 (Master number, Cosmic Builder, profound change); Also, Caput Draconis and its representation of new beginnings aligns well with the one numerology of Fehu.
Beginning with today’s significator runes, Fehu begins the Elder Futhark by defining wealth, success, and growth. Its keyword is cattle, which in the past represented wealth that was moveable. But how that plays out essentially depends on how we transact our experiences with others. Caput Draconis from geomancy suggests you’re on the threshold of new beginnings. Together, both runes indicate that you could be on the threshold of a new way of transacting your life, whether it involves financial security or your interactions with others.
Moving on to the cards, The 7 of Wands involves getting above a situation to understand what it is that you’re looking at. The man on the hill assumes a defensive posture and stands his ground from an apparent attack from below. The numerology of seven reflects observation and balance, and allowing a situation to settle before arriving at a conclusion or decision. So, the 7 of Wands suggests you might have to stand your ground about something today.
Next, the 9 of Pentacles shows a woman, likely a Queen, in her garden with one hand resting on a stack of coins while a hooded falcon ready for an afternoon hunt sits on her gloved hand. Grape vines climb up a wall behind her while the castle appears in the distance. Two trees, one on each side of the scene reflect balance and the entire scene reflects peace and abundance. Taking the 7 and 9 together, after standing your ground and moving in a new direction, peace and abundance are indeed possible. The 9 of Pentacles also aligns well with both Fehu and Caput Draconis.
Lastly, the 6 of Cups shows one person in a red hood offering a golden cup filled with flowers to a woman passing by. Five more cups are displayed with the same floral arrangement. Note the white lily in each cup that represents purity. It suggests purity of motive and a random act of kindness with no expectation of anything in return. The 6 of Cups then represents sharing one’s abundance with others. The six numerology also reflects empathy, assistance, and sharing, and in alignment with Fehu, it also aligns with the idea of how we transact what we offer to others. This might represent a new experience for you or a different mindset that now that you’ve embarked on something new that brings abundance, you have the opportunity to share that in some way with others.
SUMMATION
Something new is on the horizon and you are willing to stand your ground in defense of the new decision you’ve made. Personal growth may be a factor in the shift that’s taking place and you’re on the threshold of new beginnings that may result in something positive or increased abundance of some kind. It may involve financial wealth or the inner wealth or growth that comes from harmonious relationships with others. How you transact your experiences with others also seems to be at the heart of the reading along with the fact that you’re ready to stand your ground about how you see that.
