As Above, So Below for Thursday, 15 February 2024
The reading notes for today’s reading are below. You’re welcome to watch the video here.
- Significator runes: Ansuz (4th rune, Odin’s rune, eloquence, divinity, spirit communication, Higher Self, clarity); Rubeus (evil, misuse of force, violence, overreaction, either/or, passion, fiery temper)
- Cards: King of Wands, King of Swords, Temperance (added to cover the Kings), and The World
- Patterns: Two Major Arcana cards and two Court Cards
- Overall numerology: 4+14+21=39; 3+9=12; 1+2=3 (communication, interaction, optimism, integration, imagination) However, since we also had Ansuz on Monday, this reading could be an extension of that reading and its 8 numerology (leadership, harmony, material recognition/approval). So for both readings, we would have an 11 which is the Master number for awakening, illumination, and enlightenment.
As with Monday’s reading, Ansuz is the significator rune representing the as above aspect of the reading. Although Monday’s reading involved Acquisitio (gain, increase), in today’s reading, Rubeus is the geomancy rune representing the so below aspect. So, instead of gaining from higher awareness as Monday’s reading suggested, today the runes are either suggesting balancing higher awareness with a misuse of force, or that you may encounter someone who may be undermining you in some way, and how you respond will determine the outcome of that situation.
Today’s cards included two Kings (Wands, Swords) and a Major Arcana (The World) card. Both Kings are older men in authority, but whereas the King of Wands describes a wise and knowledgeable warrior, the King of Swords describes someone who is analytical, logical, and clever Either man can be someone to look to for advice, or they can be a person in power who misuses that power and authority for his own purposes. With Rubeus in the mix, it may be the latter. If this applies to the querent (you) in today’s reading, the two Kings could be asking you to consider how you express authority in your life and whether it’s benevolent (Ansuz) or more authoritarian (Rubeus).
I decided after looking at both Kings to draw another card to give more information about the Kings. Temperance essentially crosses both Kings suggesting moderation and balancing will with emotion. We see an angel pouring water from one cup to the other while one foot is in the pond and one is on the land. We see a path that winds between two mountain peaks toward the rising Sun. Balance is reflected everywhere in Temperance and relating that idea to the King cards, it suggests that you should express your authority in a way that balances your expression of will with compassion, empathy, love, and understanding. And since your will can manifest as ego, Temperance can also help define the balance between ego (Rubeus) and higher awareness (Ansuz).
Lastly, The World card, the final card from the Major Arcana, illustrates a nude woman covered slightly by a piece of fabric. She holds two wands, one in each hand, and appears within a neverending garland with a lemniscate (figure 8) at the top and bottom reflecting the as above so below nature of our lives. Everything comes full circle with The World and the representations of the Fixed signs of the Zodiac in each corner of the card, it depicts how your life was lived and who you are at the end. Overall, when The World appears in a reading, it indicates synthesis, completion, and reward. Did you express yourself with integrity and honesty, with compassion, empathy, and understanding? Or did you take advantage of others and do things at the expense of other people? And what will be your reward in the end?
SUMMATION
You could be facing a decision today about how you express authority in your interactions with others. Or you could encounter someone who is trying to undermine you in some way today. Given that Ansuz appeared in Monday’s reading as well, and the overall numerology between both readings is the Master number 11, both readings this week may reflect the need to see things from a higher perspective, especially if you’re asserting authority. If you can’t listen to the needs or opinions of others, you may not have all the facts and your response may be less than appropriate, let alone honorable. Whereas on Monday, you gained from a higher perspective, today’s reading seems more dire because you’re either dealing with the Rubeus energy within or from someone else and allowing higher awareness to inform that behavior is essential to a better outcome.
Blessings!
