Exploring Tarot: 7 of Wands
A man stands his ground holding a staff in a defensive posture while six more staffs rise from below. He wears a short tunic, one boot, and one shoe as if he left his home in haste to protect himself and his property. The 7 of Wands describes a defensive response to an overwhelming situation, or it could describe managing unexpected issues that are arising simultaneously.
Although the man may be unsure how to deal with what’s coming in on him, he still stands ready to respond. Elemental Fire is represented by the suit of Wands which involves high energy, the expression of will, and creative force. Fire expresses itself in aggression, motivation, new opportunities, and taking action. And the man certainly embraces that energetic quality.
Reversed, the 7 of Wands suggests a lack of response or feeling overwhelmed in the face of multiple problems.
