As Above, So Below for Monday, 4 March 2024
The reading notes for today’s reading are below. You’re welcome to watch the video here.
- Significator runes: Sowilo (16th rune; Tristitia (grief, sorrow, sadness, becoming stuck, evil influence, ego, condemnation, grudges, secretive, quick to anger)
- Cards: 4 of Pentacles, 6 of Wands, 4 of Swords
- Patterns: Minor Arcana, two 4 cards
- Overall numerology: 16+4+6+4=30; 3+0=3 (integration, creativity, optimism, interaction, communication, imagination, self-expression)
One thing I wanted to say before getting into the reading notes is to link this reading to last Thursday’s reading on 2/29/2024 where Tristitia was also the dominating influence of the runes. In addition, Both a card from Pentacles and a card from Swords bookend the middle card. In Thursday’s reading, it was the 6 in each suit with a Court card in the center, while in today’s reading, it’s 4s that bookend a 6 card. But there’s enough of a pattern here to suggest that the grief that was difficult to let go of in the last reading is still an issue in today’s reading.
Instead of Eihwaz from last Thursday’s reading, Sowilo, the rune of the will and higher self, invokes higher awareness to provide a way forward out of Tristitia’s darkness and into the light. And today’s three numerology of integration and optimism help support that process.
The 4 of Pentacles, 6 of Wands, and the 6 of Swords provide the Tarot influences for the reading. A four numerology describes structure, foundation, and grounding, and relating the 4 of Pentacles to Tristitia and holding on to what you deem important seems to be appropriate here. In the 4 of Pentacles, the King is holding fast to his wealth, possibly at the expense of his kingdom. One way to interpret the card is to take a conservative approach to finances and wealth, but in this case, I think the 4 of Pentacles is suggesting that you’re isolating yourself in the Tristitia experience and it’s impacting your life in a way that keeps you isolated from others. With Tristitia, you continue to view everything through the lens of grief and sadness because it’s quite self-reinforcing.
Next, the 6 of Wands illustrates a man of means riding his horse draped with a green blanket. He wears a red cape with a green wreath adorning both his head and hanging from his staff suggesting a victory or positive outcome of some kind as other people are visible walking alongside him carrying their own staffs. The 6 of Wands describes walking in the same direction with others or along a shared path. It shows support is there for the man, and in the case of Tristitia, it could be suggesting that there are people available who are happy to support you in healing from the grief you feel.
Lastly, we come to another 4 card, the 4 of Swords, and a depiction of someone in a stone casket in a mausoleum. One sword is on the coffin and three more are pointed down to earth on the wall. But instead of holding fast to beliefs that reinforce isolation and grief, here the 4 of Swords is suggesting to let your thoughts come to rest to give the space for other thoughts to replace those that have consumed you and no longer serve a positive purpose.
SUMMATION
It appears that we’re getting a similar reading to last Thursday’s reading suggesting that letting go of emotions that no longer serve is not the easiest thing to do when Tristitia energy is active and you’ve been there for a while. Today’s rune, Sowilo, in contrast to Tristitia, invokes the light of higher awareness to show you that you can move past grief and heal. It’s a process and while it will likely not happen immediately, at least by taking that first step, you consciously take a healing path forward. After all, you deserve to be happy and at peace.
Blessings!
