As Above, So Below for Thursday, 4 April 2024

- Significator runes: Sowilo (16th rune, Higher Self, the will, energy, self-confidence, healing, clarity, illumination, link between Spirit and form) and Tristitia (sorrow, grief, remaining stuck in emotions/perceptions/grief, secretive, condemnation, holding grudges)
- Cards: 5 of Pentacles, Strength (8), Ace of Swords (1)
- Patterns: Same pattern as with Monday’s reading with a Major Arcana card, an Ace, and a Minor card.
- Overall numerology: 16+5+8+1=30; 3+0=3 (interaction, communication, optimism, creativity)
SUMMATION
Sowilo and Tristitia, today’s significator runes for the reading, express the polarity between Spirit and ego. Sowilo expresses Higher awareness while Tristitia is an extreme form of sadness or grief where the individual has become so stuck that s/he cannot see anything else. Anger can be present, as can fear, in the sense that it’s too difficult to be happy or to move forward. And it really does take Higher awareness to help soften that grief and the anger that can also result.
Today’s cards align well with both runes beginning with the 5 of Pentacles describing a significant change in someone’s personal life. Both people are wearing torn and tattered clothing and appear to be wearing bandages to cover their feet. They each lean forward against the snow and wind as they walk by a building with a stained glass window suggestive of a church, unaware of the help that’s inside. In that regard, the 5 of Pentacles aligns with Tristitia and the inability to see past the grief and sorrow they feel.
Next, the Strength card from the Major Arcana describes the inner strength it takes to tame the wild within, in other words, the reactive ego. It aligns with the idea behind Sowilo and allowing Higher awareness to inform your perceptions and emotions. So if you’re experiencing loss or grief that you cannot move past, then dropping resistance to your emotions and allowing Higher awareness to soften the hold your ego has on the experience may help you begin to heal.
Finally, as you begin to heal, the Ace of Swords indicates that your interactions with others may begin to change, because now you can interact with others in a way that no longer reflects sadness or grief. Your perceptions begin to shift, and you can reintegrate with and accept support from others who may also have been impacted by the same experience. At that point, you’re also allowing your inner light, your inner soul awareness, to guide your healing process, and to make you realize that it’s okay to be happy and to express love to both self and others. The overall numerology of three for today’s reading also reinforces this type of reintegration.
