SUMMATION
Today’s significator runes bring together who controls your fate and following along with the crowd. Perthro asks you to consider if you are controlling your fate, or if you’re giving that control away to others. Sometimes it can feel like external influences seem to control your choices, but in reality, you have more control than you realize.
Looking at today’s cards, overall, The High Priestess aligns well with Perthro and the notion of allowing the Higher Self to inform your choices. In that way, you’re not influenced by others (Populus) to ignore your work or the mundane tasks you take care of at home. The High Priestess involves the subconscious, intuition, balance, inner wisdom/strength, the dream state, change, and alignment with the Higher Self. It also suggests what’s hidden from view, and its presence in the reading suggests that your intuition can be relied upon to more fully understand the choices you’re making. It also suggests that your reactive ego doesn’t have to control your choices. Today’s eight numerology for the reading also reinforces the idea of inner strength which may be necessary to reassess the boundaries you’ve established between managing your responsibilities and your personal life.
The run on Pentacles with the 7 and 3 illustrate the mundane aspects of life, in this case, home and work. The farmer in the 7 of Pentacles leans on his hoe and assesses whether or not his crops will be enough to either sell or keep for the family to have food during the winter months. The 7 of Pentacles is a perfect example of stepping back and surveying the entire picture so that the farmer can make the best choice possible. In short, although other things can influence the growing season, he still views the outcome as his responsibility.
The 3 of Pentacles illustrates another way of achieving material security. This may be the same man as the one in the 7, and he needs an outside job to make ends meet, or it could be just another way to demonstrate taking control of your material security. In both cases, however, each man prioritizes taking care of their responsibilities before doing anything else. Going along with the crowd described by Populus may have a place in their lives, but not at the expense of their responsibilities.
So, if you’re feeling overwhelmed by your responsibilities at home or work, it may be that your focus is on hanging out with friends or becoming distracted in some other way instead of on what you need to get done. If that’s true, you’re either giving your fate away to others or to your reactive ego. At some point, you have to go within and analyze what’s happening and use that inner wisdom to achieve a healthier balance so you control your fate and effectively balance your responsibilities with your personal time.
