Exploring Tarot: King of Pentacles
The King of the Spirits of Earth. The King of Pentacles sits on his throne with his castle beyond the wall behind him. Grapes adorn his cloak or cape that covers battle attire. He holds a scepter with a round globe in his right hand while his left hand rests on a large golden coin. Flowers adorn his crown and grape vines wind around his feet and behind his throne. The King’s throne displays four steer heads, one on each corner.
The King of Pentacles represents a successful older man in authority. He is powerful, faithful, steadfast, and responsible and can indicate the querent or someone the querent can depend upon for advice or counsel.
When the King of Pentacles appears upright in a reading, he suggests approaching material security in a pragmatic or conservative manner. Reversed, he may indicate someone who is taking too many risks with money or security.
