SUMMATION

We begin today’s reading with the two significator runes, Thurisaz and Amissio. Amissio can be viewed as a decrease of something, in this case, a lack of impulse control expressed by Thurisaz. Today’s numerology for the reading is nine, or endings and completion, so the reading at this point may be suggesting controlling impulsivity of some kind. But let’s look a the cards to get more information.

Today’s cards were the 6 of Pentacles, Strength, and the 10 of Swords. Beginning with the 6 of Pentacles, we see an unevenness with the coins displayed around the top of the card. A man of means is offering coins to the outstretched hands of one individual sitting on the ground while a second man waits for what the man may give to him. However, although he’s offering something to the first man, we don’t know if he’s going to do the same for the other, hence the idea of unevenness of the experience. And because the man of means is holding a scale sort of off to the side and out of his peripheral vision, although he may have the best intentions and believe he’s doing something fair and helpful, is what he’s offering more of an illusion?

Moving past the Strength card, I looked at the 10 of Swords where we see a man on the ground with ten swords piercing his back. The Suit of Swords reflects the Air element and our intellect, interactions, balance, deception, and truth. So, the swords in question may represent perceptions or thoughts that have gone as far as they can go. In the background, we see the night is lifting and the Sun’s light is returning, in other words, a new day is dawning. The 10 numerology suggests new beginnings that take place when you let go of perceptions that no longer serve a positive or higher purpose. Or, when considering both Thurisaz and Amissio, you may be letting go of impulsivity which may be an ongoing problem.

Lastly, I returned to Strength, card eight from the Major Arcana. The essence of Strength is taming the wild within, or the impulsivity of the ego’s influence. The woman is lovingly holding and petting the head of the lion. While she represents the soul or higher awareness, the lion represents the ego and striking a more effective balance between the two.

So, essentially, today’s reading suggests that you might be experiencing some impulsivity that isn’t accomplishing anything positive, and it’s time to let go of those thoughts that motivate you to act in a way that causes more harm than good. It takes having the inner strength to both keep your ego under control and to understand whether or not the solution you offer is helping the situation. It may be time to reconsider your words and express yourself in a way that reflects an understanding of how your comments may be received by others.
