SUMMATION
We begin with Uruz and Fortuna Minor as the significators for today’s reading. Uruz describes the strength to manifest your reality while Fortuna Minor focuses on the process you take to achieve that. The overall numerology for the reading is three, which indicates self-expression and creativity, while the run on Swords clearly shows that intellect, communication, integration, justice, balance, fairness, and truth/deception may become factors in the process you take to manifest your reality.
Today’s cards included The Magician, the Ace of Swords, and the 8 of Swords. However, as the reading progressed, it was clear that I needed a fourth card, and after shuffling and cutting the deck I drew the 13th card (my own process for an additional card) which was the Knight of Swords.
The Magician supports both the manifesting influence of Uruz and the progressive nature of Fortuna Minor by drawing Higher Awareness or Spirit into his manifestation of the soul into physical reality. Because a sword is present on the Magician’s table, it connects this soul-archetype Major Arcana card to the other cards from the Suit of Swords in the reading. In addition, we have an Air element influence with this complete run on Swords, so it’s clear that the process you take and the issues that might arise will likely have integration or interaction challenges that must be resolved as you go along.
The Ace of Swords suggests the genesis of new intellectual thought. This could indicate issues involving interactions with others, understanding truth versus deception, or possibly legal issues to deal with. Although I initially started reading the cards in a way that relates to a collaborative effort, the 8 of Swords defines this in a more personal way by suggesting that you might need to ignore all the unwanted or faulty advice you’re getting (or the expectations or agenda of others trying to control your process) and then seek outside counsel from someone represented by the Knight of Swords, the additional card I drew to get more information. Whoever represents the Knight in your process could be someone who can offer a unique perspective to whatever challenges you’re experiencing. It’s not that this wouldn’t apply to a collaborative situation, but the 8 of Swords seems to be pointing in a different direction.
So, if this resonates for you, you may need to step outside your normal process and seek out advice or input from someone known for his or her unique ideas and solutions. If so, you may need to turn your attention away from other voices whose ideas aren’t really what you’re looking for, especially if it feels like they want to control you in some way.
Remember that you’re the one who shapes your reality, and if there are people around you whose input is actually making you feel overwhelmed or trapped in some way, then step away from those conversations and seek out a solution that feels more realistic.
