Agrimony, Agrimonia Eupatoria
Also known as stickle-wort and church steeples, Agrimony is ruled by the planet Jupiter and the astrological sign Cancer. Its element is Air, its day is Thursday, and its magickal power is To Know. Its energetic effect is balanced.
Use in Rituals, Spells, and Magickal Workings
The whole plant can be used in magickal workings, or just the dried root left whole, chopped up, or powdered. It can be used in protection spells to protect against negativity in all forms, in spells that involve exorcism or banishing evil entities or spirits, and for workings to strengthen or empower an individual’s resolve.
Magickal Methodologies
- Dried Agrimony can be used in mojo/charm/gris gris/hex bags. You can add a pinch of the dried herb or powder to the bag along with anything else you find useful.
- Make an infusion (tea) from the root or plant and use it to asperge an area of negativity.
- Or you can paint the infusion with a paintbrush or your finger onto a piece of rune stock that you’ve drawn, carved, or wood burned a bindrune. Another way to use an infusion would be to soak or paint a piece of parchment paper (or paper you’ve created) with the infusion, let it dry, and then use the paper as you wish. If you do this to a large piece of paper, it can be cut to a smaller size and placed in the mojo bag after writing or drawing something on it. You can also roll the paper into a small scroll for the same purpose.
- Agrimony infusion can also be added to a ritual wash of some kind.
- Add to other herbs to create incense for protection or empowerment.
- Agrimony can be planted next to an entrance (in a pot or in the ground) to ward off negativity and for protection. A dried bundle of agrimony can be hung over a doorway for the same purpose.
- Burn the dried herb in a cauldron to cleanse an area of negativity, in a circle or sacred space to cleanse one’s aura, or to support releasing entities you’ve called upon for assistance.
