SUMMATION

Today’s runes, Sowilo and Amissio suggest possibly a decrease of self-confidence. The overall numerology of five for the reading may reinforce the idea that something has or is changing in your life, So, there could be something occurring today that leaves you feeling somewhat at a loss.

I initially drew three cards: the Page of Swords, The Hermit, and the 5 of Pentacles, and since The Hermit is a card from the Major Arcana, and a soul-archetype card, I’ll begin with The Hermit.

The ninth card from the Major Arcana, The Hermit stands atop a snowy peak holding a staff in his left hand and a lighted lantern in his right hand. The light emanating from the lantern is from a Merkaba, or soul vehicle, suggesting he’s retreated or withdrawn from his life to gain wisdom or answers from his Higher Self.

The Page of Swords shows a young person holding a sword in both hands as he looks backward at the past while leaning into the future. Pages are students or messengers in the Rider-Waite deck and as the wind blows through the scene, there’s a potential for change, but he’s taking with him all that he’s learned thus far as he moves in a new direction.

Then, we come to the 5 of Pentacles, the card that likely defines the reading. Here we see two people walking in the snow next to what appears to be a church, hurt, bandaged, and seemingly destitute. Again, as with the overall numerology for the reading, the five numerology suggests change, in this case, a significant one that is impacting their material security. The presence of the church suggests that help is available but their emotions may be clouding any reason at this point.

I drew a fourth card to get more information about what’s happening. The 2 of Pentacles shows a juggler juggling two pentacles to make a decision about his material security, perhaps in response to the change in circumstances described in the 5 of Pentacles. He turns his back to the ocean water behind him to make a decision that’s not influenced by his emotions.

Essentially, something may have changed in your life (related to a job, home, health, etc.) that impacts your material security and you need to seek counsel before you make any decisions about it. Sowilo and The Hermit suggest that you allow your Higher Self to inform how you see your situation and the decision you need to make. However, your own experience may be informative as well as advice you might seek from a trusted friend, family member, or a mentor of some kind. But the idea here is to try to understand the overall picture so that you can make a decision that is less emotional and more grounded, rational, and practical.
