Herbal Magick: Borage
Borage, Borago officinalis
Also known as Borago or star flower, the planet Jupiter and the zodiac sign Leo rule Borage. Its element is Air, its direction is East, its day is Thursday, and its magickal power is To Know. Its energetic effect is masculine, projective, and active. Associated Deities are Sachiel (angel), and Bethor (Olympic Spirit)
Use in Rituals, Spells, and Magickal Workings
The leaves and flowers from the Borage plant can be used in magickal workings, fresh, dried, or powdered, but generally, the flowers are used. Borage is used in workings to promote courage and to dispel nervousness and anxiety. Borage increases inner strength and understanding and promotes justice, prosperity, leadership, and wealth
Magickal Methodologies
- Dried Borage leaves and flowers can be used in mojo or charm bags, witch bottles, or dream pillows.
- Anointed candles can be rolled in the dried leaf to enhance a working.
- Crushed dried leaves can be scattered to the winds at the end of a magickal working.
- Borage flowers can be placed around the altar or workspace, or your home during magickal workings.
