Cayenne, Capsicum annuum
Also known as capsicum, Bird pepper, and chili, Mars, and the astrological sign Aries, rule Cayenne. Its element is Fire, its direction is South, its day is Tuesday, and its magickal power is To Will. Its energetic effect is masculine, projective, and active. Associated Deities are Uriel (angel), and Phaleg (Olympic Spirit)
Use in Rituals, Spells, and Magickal Workings
The fruit/seeds (peppers) from the Cayenne plant can be used in magickal workings, fresh or dried. Cayenne is used in workings to stimulate change, invoke protection, and increase awareness.
Magickal Methodologies
- Fresh or dried Cayenne pepper can be used whole on the altar or workspace in protection spells.
- Dried Cayenne pepper or the seeds in mojo or charm bags, or witch bottles, or on the altar or workspace to enhance a working.
- Cayenne peppers can be strung together and hung over a doorway for protection.
