SUMMATION
Today’s reading begins with Perthro and understanding fate in your life. Tristitia adds the idea of allowing grief and loss to hold you in the place of the ego’s choosing, thereby controlling your fate. The overall numerology for the reading of nine suggests bringing to an end to allowing others and your emotions/perceptions to control your fate. I initially thought as the reading progressed that I might need another card to further define the King card, but then it seemed unnecessary.
Death, the Queen of Pentacles, and the King of Swords comprise today’s cards that provide further details for the reading. Death involves transition and transformation which may suggest that allowing others to control your fate, or letting your emotions define that, needs to be transformed into something new. The Sun in the background of the Death card implies that transformation and a new day are possible if we let go of allowing others or our emotional state to define our future.
The Court cards suggest either the qualities of the individual represented on each card that can help you address an issue or move forward, or they represent the power of the individuals themselves that may or may not be a positive focus in your life. The Queen of Pentacles, in this reading, may suggest the transformation from Death can manifest through reflection on how we see the idea of fate in our lives. The King of Swords can either suggest looking at the issue of fate from a logical or analytical perspective instead of one that is overly emotional, or it may represent the individual who has been influencing your perceptions at the expense of, for example, your own fate, material security, or emotional security.
When determining who controls your fate, today’s reading suggests that you need to consider how the agenda of another, such as the King of Pentacles whose sword is askew, could be trying to influence you in a way that helps that person maintain power or control over your perceptions and choices. Because his sword is not held straight, the askew position suggests to me that he’s not being completely honest with you, and now that the consequences of that are being experienced, you need to take another look at your allegiance to whoever represents the King in your life.
The overall nine numerology for the reading suggests that the runes and cards, taken together, are asking you to let go of the impact of ego (your own and that of others) to understand the overall picture. Do you see people around you as the other or as the other side of self? If you see the other, are you, in fact, being influenced by someone who wants to divide and conquer to achieve his agenda of power, control, and unlimited wealth? The King of Swords seems to be that influence while the Death card offers a better solution of awakening and transforming your values, beliefs, and perceptions through self-reflection to include harmony and inclusivity instead of seeing others as the enemy when they’re nothing of the sort.
