Growth and Transformation: A Runecasting
In today’s runecasting, Jera is placed to the left as significator, the basic premise of this casting. The rune of transformation and balance, Jera brings growth, positive change, and prosperity. It also represents the cyclical nature of life and balanced energy in relationships.
Jera manifests in Sowilo, Inguz, and Hagalaz respectfully as they make up the primary influences affecting our balance and transformation. Inguz acts as the pivot or balance point for the casting. The male counterpart to Berkano, Inguz is the seed, our genetic inheritance, our desire within for growth and expansion. Its energy is released suddenly, perfect for spellcasting and other ritual work.
Sowilo brings warmth and healing to any runecasting or magickal working. The rune of Higher Self and Will, Sowilo instills self-confidence and inner strength, illuminating the witch’s way forward. The magickal will of the witch is enhanced with Sowilo, guiding her toward positive outcomes.
In the final position, Hagalaz, the witch rune, brings disruption in preparation for transformation or change. Like the witch, Hagalaz overcomes challenges and provides protection and luck. Represented by hail, patterns are crystallized with Hagalaz, providing the structure necessary for success.
What Jera tells us is that while growth and expansion are necessary, approaching that process in a balanced fashion results in success based on allowing and nonresistance. We embrace the natural flow of something and learn to work within that construct. Sowilo illuminates our way, our choices, and gives us the self-confidence necessary to trust in the natural unfolding of our process.
Hagalaz provides the witch her foundation, the structure from which all else flows. The witch is in control of her desired outcome, her desire made manifest. She releases Inguz energy suddenly, sending her intention to the universe, Sowilo’s influence giving the witch clarity, as she manifests her power and will.
Bindrunes are wonderful in ritual work and spellcasting. They represent powerful energies on their own, but together, they bring an intensity and focus to any magickal working. This runecasting blends easily into a bindrune massisting the witch in her focus as her desire flows within and without her, above and below her, a link between realms, her intention complete. I burned this bindrune into a piece of juniper, but it can be drawn on any surface or in the air when used by the witch. She alone defines its purpose and its use.
Runecastings describe the energies surrounding us. They can tell us what influences are at work or describe the past, present, and future. But sometimes it also provides energies for bindrune creation. The second I drew Inguz followed by Hagalaz, I knew that’s what I had. And as Ilooked at the runecasting, I could feel the runes becoming something more. And any time I can create a bindrune, I’m a happy witch indeed!
So trust in your process. You know what to do. Stay focused on the outcome while understanding that resistance interferes and allowing ensures that the best possible outcome will emerge.
Align, focus, and lovingly send your intention with blessings to all!
