Balance Between Knowing and Keeping Our Silence: a Runecasting
Eihwaz, Othala, and Laguz, runes from Elemental Air/Fire, Earth, and Water, make up today’s runecasting so all Elemental influences are present. The bindrune above blends energies of Ansuz, Tiwaz, Gebo, and Dagaz for clarity, strength, balanced energy exchange, and enlightenment. I like to include bindrunes to provide the underlying energy for the runecasting.
Eihwaz as the rune of paradox reflects the connection between opposites acting as a link between the physical and nonphysical realms. It’s one of the runes that embodies more than one Elemental influence with both Air and Fire as its Elements. It’s a rune that is useful in trance work, astral travel, and hedge riding. Eihwaz represents the strength of the Yew tree as it increases our personal power and endurance with Air increasing the intensity of Fire. Eihwaz is useful in addressing challenges and removing obstacles and helps us attain our objectives. It’s alignment brings stillness resulting in knowing what’s hidden.
Othala brings energies of the Akash or ancestry into our awareness. As the rune of sacred space, Othala’s Earth influence restores balance between order and chaos. It’s said that Othala contains the energies of all runes from the Elder Futhark, but most specifically it takes the balanced energy exchange of Gebo and combines it with sudden burst of energy from Inguz. Othala is our genetic inheritence, our ancestral traditions, and reflects the wisdom of the Crone.
We’re purified and cleansed with Laguz, a rune of Elemental Water. The rune of the occult, Laguz strengthens our intuition, clairsentience, and life force. A Lunar rune, Laguz holds the same power and influence as does the Moon over the tides as it gathers energies together, strengthening the witch’s will. Drawing down the moon energy is in play when Laguz appears in a reading, giving the witch access to the dream realm. In short, Laguz represents our state of emotional balance.
The numerology of the runecasting is 13, 21, and 23 respectively. Added together we arrive at 57 which reduces from there to 12, and from there, 3. Three reflects the fundamental balance between Mother, Father, and child. It’s the structure of the triangle from which everything else flows. The number three reflects the Divine, the Triple Goddess, past/present/future, sigils including Valknut and Awen, and of course the Three Norns of Fate.
So if we take balance as the theme of this runecasting, it would tell us to stand back and reflect before acting, using wisdom gained from our Akash to bring us the perspective needed to fully assess the situation at hand. Our intuition will guide us forward if we stay aligned, keeping our emotions in check. With all four Elemental influences present, we have their support in staying the course.
We’re in an odd time right now. Deception and vested interest seem to be the theme of the day. Laguz tells us to listen to our inner voice and to act with purity and grace. Observe, rather than engage, and all that’s hidden will be revealed. Othala gives us the balance as well as the energy needed when action is necessary, but we need to employ the wisdom of the Crone as we choose our battles wisely. We don’t have to become involved in everything that comes our way.
Sometimes our greatest power in found in the balance between knowing and keeping our silence. The bindrune reflects that notion as its outward flow of strength is balanced with the inward flow of clarity, with enlightenment as its genesis.
Blessings to all!
