Thankful For Source Presence ~ Thanksgiving Tarot 2016
It’s not easy to be thankful when life goes awry. Ours did a few years ago, but we’ve done far more than survive. Throughout the drama, no matter how difficult, we kept thriving. Our direction has remained positive as we embrace new endeavors, learning more than a thing or two at our advancing age. We could have let everything swallow us up whole, but instead, we kept on. And that wasn’t easy.
It’s taken a different focus than we had. A willingness perhaps to see things without judging any of it, with a focus on moving past everything. When things shift in our lives, we have the ability to refocus, to re-frame our lives so to speak. Not everything needs to remain the same. We can let go of what no longer serves us and move on toward the promise of something new.
Wands, Cups, and a card from the Major Arcana are present in today’s tarot reading using the DruidCraft deck. The 8 of Cups, 3 of Wands, Ace of Wands, and The Hermit illustrate a progression of sorts, a decision process unfolding. We see a cloaked person, staff in hand, climbing stone steps, eight empty cups on the rock below. A sliver of light emerges from the Dark Moon as the surrounding clouds begin to dissipate. A card of Elemental Water representing our emotional presence, the 8 of Cups suggests we’ve experienced some loss and we’ve chosen to leave the situation. A small waterfall cascades downward, in swift movement around the rock representing swiftly changing emotions.
The next two cards are from the suit of Wands. A Fire Element suit, Wands represents our authentic self, our catalytic presence in the world. The 3 of Wands depicts a younger man looking out over the land, three trees showing signs of growth in front of him, representing expansion and movement forward. New plans are taking form as he awaits their fruition.
A stag stands on a rock cliff, looking on as a wand emerges from physical form, reaching for the Sun, the brilliance of new ideas shining bright. Strength and inspiration felt with the Ace of Wands reinforce the creative force within, our passion driving us on. Trees rise above the rock cliffs, new growth evident. Our ideas have taken flight, spawned by our intuition, enthusiasm and creative focus.
Finally, we come to The Hermit, card 9 of the Major Arcana. The wise Druid Priest who stands above the fray, the light from his lantern reflecting the inner light of Self. A staff in one hand, his wolf powerfully standing guard at his side. A time of retreat, of withdrawal from daily life is suggested by The Hermit, as we’re encouraged to take stock and to look within for answers.
The numerology of the reading breaks down to 8, 3, 1, and 9, reducing from there to 21, and from there to 3 represent the creative catalyst within.
Well now. The 8 of Cups really doesn’t explain what’s going on with the individual who’s leaving. He might be the individual from the 8 of Cups It would seem on the surface that we’ve abandoned one thing to think about another. Maybe we’ve overreacted by walking away, or maybe we decided that we had nothing left to give that situation. Either way, the new ideas we’re having may have been predicated on overflowing emotion. Or maybe we’ve simply had enough and we’re ready to move on.
A steady sort of growth supported by the numerology of the reading is taking place which seems to be increasing in strength and clarity. And just when it seems like inspiration is bursting out all over the place, the Hermit reminds us, not so fast. We’ve left a situation, obviously experiencing sadness along the way and we may need time for our emotional state to return to balance. It’s an exciting time for us as we eagerly approach new ideas and new beginnings. Taking a step back, even if only to survey all that’s unfolding, may give us the perspective needed to bring our ideas to fruition.
As with our own life, we all should be thankful for that inner voice within, and bless its wise counsel. The path ahead may be uncertain, but relying on our inner Source Presence will see us through.
Blessings to our One Family on this day of Thanksgiving.
