In Clarity and Collective Purpose ~ Tarot for 9 March 2017
Today’s tarot reading begins and ends with Aces. The Ace of Wands and Swords signify Fire and Air respectively. They are the beginning of our creative force and intellectual presence and contain all qualities and aspects of their respective suits. Each represents both potential and fulfillment or completion. Completing the spread are the 4 of Wands, Lust, and the Queen of Wands, with the Queen in the hidden influence position.
Wands predominate the reading indicating an increase of creative energy. Crowley renames Strength, Lust, and moves it from the 8th to the 11th card of the Major Arcana. And the overall numerology of the reading is 8 indicating a focus on structural or foundational concerns. Our more practical needs, as well as a disciplined nature, are also aspects of 8. Given that Lust is renumbered as 11, I could leave that as the Master number for illumination making 6 its counterpart. Representing the Higher Self and the sacred, I think I’ll break it down to 11 and 6, illumination and the sacred, particularly with Aces beginning and ending the spread.
The Ace of Wands represents the beginning of creative manifestation. We see a fiery wand, flames bursting forth in all its catalytic presence. Green lightning bolts move in all directions in the background. We experience the beginnings of passion and creative thought with the Ace of Wands. It represents the spark of life, of manifestation and birth.
Completion is the title of the 4 of Wands but I wonder if containment would have been a better title. Four ornate wands cross one another appearing similar to the Wheel of the Year. Many things are happening yet seem to align in purpose. Flames extend out from the center with a gold ring encircling the wands. Each wand appears to be in its own place, not interacting with the others except where they cross in the middle, the spark of creativity evident between them.
Lust is such an interesting card. Normally this card, as Strength, depicts a woman sitting with a lion, their love and devotion evident. But in this card, the Goddess as Mother physically holds up her creation. She lies nude on a multi-faced lion, her long hair flowing and unrestrained. Serpents appear above the ground signifying rebirth and fertility. She gives birth to her world in all her catalytic presence, the seed of creation exploding forth into all life.
Life begins in catalytic motion. It’s the sacred moment we manifest into form. The first three cards of the reading describe this process as we emerge into form in full clarity. But as we see with the 4 of Wands, we’re part of something more, part of a Unified Presence, existing in concert with others. This notion is reinforced by the Goddess as Mother, as Creator of All That Is.
The Queen of Wands represents the hidden or unconscious influences of the reading. Queens are reflective and nurturing, wise and loving. The Queen of Wands is generous with her time and has had a successful life. She sits regally on her throne, her hand on the head of the jaguar at her feet, a pine-coned scepter crossed before her. Her golden crown, like the entire card, radiates energy in all directions. When this card appears in a reading it suggests that we’re not done yet, that we have options available and a drive to succeed.
We end with the Ace of Swords, arising from the gray clouds into the Sun’s brilliant light. Its tip emerges from the top of a radiating crown of light reminiscent of the Queen of Wands. We stand in full clarity of all that’s happening. The illusion is revealed for what it is as new ideas emerge as a result. We see things as they are and balance has been restored.
Each of us may appear to incarnate as individuals, but in truth, we still exist as the same Unified Presence. Although we each have our own life theme, we incarnate together in groups and are part of a greater unified purpose. We have a responsibility to each other. The world we live in is our creation, in all its glory and its messiness. It’s all something to experience along our collective path to ascension.
We have a choice. Working together, our momentum builds, putting new ideas into play as we create the world we wish to see. As we nurture our co-creation, we move forward in complete clarity, in balance and triumphant.
Or we can see everyone as the other and watch as things continue to fall apart.
Blessed Be
