Stuck In Perception ~ Tarot for 10 March 2017
It’s easy to become stuck in perception especially when we’re so sure of what we believe. Two cards from the suit of Pentacles and one from the suit of Cups comprise today’s tarot reading. The Ace and Page of Pentacles surround the 4 of Cups reflecting our feelings about our material or physical surroundings and security. With an overall numerology of five, a change in perception or belief may be what’s needed.
The Ace of Pentacles begins the reading with a silver and white pentagram on a golden sphere, ivy growing throughout, rising above a walkway. Trees and flowers line the path, a column at its conclusion with verdant, rolling hills in the distance.
The suit of Pentacles deals with the material or physical side of life including health matters, our career and finances, and our place in the community. The Ace in any suit is not only about new beginnings but a return to such. Although the path in the Ace of Pentacles is established and straight, the Ace reminds us to remain grounded as we manifest new experiences.
A surly-looking young man sits with his back against a tree in the 4 of Cups. Three golden chalices are placed before him, appearing empty. A fourth chalice floats in the air, energy radiating from it in all directions, yet the man remains unaware of its brilliance. Clouds cover the sky depicting a lack of clarity.
The man is wrapped up in thought, his disappointment and anger evident in his expression. He looks like he’s had enough, his thoughts preventing him from seeing what he still has. The number four denotes structure, stability, and the four elements. It’s possible that the man has become emotionally stuck in his perception of lack.
The Page of Pentacles depicts a young girl in a brown tunic holding the pentacle from the Ace, rays extending out in all directions in front of her suggesting transformation. She has moved farther down the path, past the column and out into the countryside. New opportunity awaits the Page as she looks out over the land, her focus on new goals and experiences.
Pity parties are easy. We begin our lives with such promise and then like the young man in the 4 of Cups, we fuss about when things don’t go our way. We have all sorts of skills at our disposal, but we refuse to see any of that, preferring the pity party to moving on.
The Page, on the other hand, realizes that her choices in life have given her a firm foundation as she pushes past any self-imposed limitations to embark on a new path, this one her own creation. Her emotions are in balance and nothing will prevent her from exploring and experiencing the world around her.
As an empath, I know how easy it is to become stuck in a thought channel. Of course, it’s not always my thought channel that I’m stuck in but that’s another issue entirely. In our nonphysical aspect of Self, we flow in non-resistance. It’s on the physical side of things where resistance comes into play.
If we can remember that we can choose our emotional response to everything that’s going on around us, we can find our center, our place of grounding much easier than when we’re caught up in the chaos of emotion. Empaths refer to this as observing instead of absorbing the vibrations around us. Staying in observation mode can make all the difference in whether or not an empath stays in control of what she’s experiencing, but it can also be helpful for others as well.
The Page reminds us to stay on the path of new experience and discovery. When she appears we know to let nothing stand in our way. We can leave the drama of the world behind and stay focused on a path of our own choosing. And in doing so, the chaos loses much of its energetic impact.
It’s like ignoring a toddler having a temper tantrum. It goes away much sooner if we give the man-child no attention. Besides, a quick check of his Twitter feed now and again should keep everyone up to date on his latest lunacy.
And in the meantime, take a walk outside and notice everything. Notice the birds and their varied songs. Feel the air on your face allowing it to purify and cleanse your spirit. Look down as you walk observing the flowers and plants as they spring to life appreciating the cycle of renewal and rebirth we all share.
Spring is here and we all have more important things to do than to allow ourselves to become stuck in a lunatic’s perception of the world.
Blessed Be
