The Resonance of Our Unified Presence ~ Tarot for 2 April 2017
I really like the Haindl tarot deck because it’s earthy, more than a little witchy and the depictions have a weighty resonance not found in other decks. The IChing hexagrams that are included on the numbered cards seem to consistently reveal the message behind the reading with the numerology typically its reinforcement. Active influences for today are reflected in the 4 of Wands, The Star, and the Mother of Swords in the South, also known as the Queen of Swords. The Hermit appears in the position of hidden influence beneath the 6 of Stones, the outcome of the reading. All elements are represented along with two cards from the Major Arcana and one Court card. The overall numerology is nine or completion and humanitarianism.
The 4 of Wands depicts four wands pointing in alternating directions with small flames emitting from their tips. Against the rock background, a scrying bubble appears envisioning new possibilities to come. A sense of contained energy is felt, the pressure of new experiences coming into focus. Its title is Perfection and in other decks signifies respite and reflection after completion of some kind. In fact, After Completion is the title of the hexagram which appears in the top right portion of the card. But it’s not a passive reflection that’s taking place but one that results in the genesis of something new.
I love The Star in the Haindl deck. We see a woman bent over a small pool of water, washing her hair. She is Mother Earth, the Blessed Conduit between physical and nonphysical aspects of self. She is our dreams manifesting into reality, with bright prospects present when she appears. The Star brings healing and hope, inspiration and insight. The rune of paradox and the connection between opposites, Eihwaz, appears in the top right-hand corner reinforcing and strengthening the link between realms of consciousness. Seven stars surround the larger golden star that shines above the goddess’s head. The number for magick, seven suggests balanced energy, the eight stars themselves suggesting strength.
The Goddess of the Night Sky, Nut, is one of the oldest known Egyptian goddesses whose children included Set, Isis, Nephthys, and Osiris. She is typically represented as arching over the Earth as she is on the Queen of Swords but in this case, she also stands in supplication to the Unified Presence, conveying our as above, so below reality. The starfield covering the card represents the fabric of creation. And it’s interesting that three red circles appear on Nut. I wonder if they depict Orion’s belt given that these so-called gods and goddesses were visitors here and not actually gods and goddesses at all.
Traditional interpretations of the Queen of Swords suggest that she is intuitive and graceful but takes no prisoners preferring solitude to the chatter of fools. She is intelligent, assertive, and lives her truth. Haindl seems to see the Queen as more mysterious than in typical decks but that’s fine. She is.
Elementals surround the Ancient of Days, his lantern offering the brilliant light of truth to all. The Hermit raises his arms in supplication and reverence to Spirit depicted by birds which appear above and below him. He stands in retreat on a mountaintop seeking awakening and enlightenment. He is the Creator personified giving silent counsel to humanity. The rune, Isa, appears in the top right-hand corner depicting inner stillness and alignment in Unified Presence. In the position of hidden influence, The Hermit reminds us that all truth is found within.
The 6 of Stones, Success, appears in the outcome position of the reading. Six large boulders are suspended in the air suggesting balanced effort. The entrance of a cave appears in the center, its light shining forth. The suit of Stones aligns with Pentacles, Disks, and Coins in other decks depicting material possessions, finances, employment, and wealth. The six boulders in alignment suggest an order to the process or perhaps an equal distribution of wealth. The hexagram in the upper right-hand corner is titled, Abundance, but this is referring to the abundance of Spirit where our true wealth lies.
The cards from the Major Arcana are archetypal in nature reminding us of who we are in this journey in form. The Star and The Hermit both bring to our consciousness the awareness of our nonphysical aspect of Self with the ultimate outcome of the reading, the 6 of Stones reinforcing the archetypal message that true wealth is found in the remembrance of Self. The runes, Eihwaz and Isa remind us of this same inner perfected focus.
Perhaps Haindl is on to something depicting Nut as the Queen of Swords. The Mind of the Creator expresses itself into the fabric of creation, individualized and ready to embrace new experiences in various densities of form. Of course, Haindl places the Queen in the South which half of us think of as the direction of Fire which might complicate things if we think of Fire in the context of the fire of creation. But it’s the Mind of the Creator that focuses into individuated form, and the mind or intellect is represented by Elemental Air which corresponds to the East and not the South. So Nut makes a certain amount of sense.
We begin in Spirit and remain so irrespective of the bodies we appear to inhabit. True success and wealth are born from the remembrance of our existence as one Unified Presence.
Blessed Be
