Off the Rails..
My sisters..we need to talk.
A nine year old girl, with her family on vacation, went to a gun range in Arizona for some family fun. Or so they thought. Evidently, this gun range allows children her age to shoot weapons, even automatic weapons. She was with her instructor who was teaching her to fire an Uzi. And, as everyone knows by now, the recoil was apparently too much, and the instructor died. How will this precious nine year old little girl ever live with this? This is not her fault. But that won’t matter.
How did we get here? How did we ever allow children to shoot automatic weapons? I don’t care how controlled the environment is, clearly, it can never be controlled enough. What if she had inadvertently shot and killed herself? Or her mother? Or her father? What then?
There are more questions than there can ever be adequate answers for. This is not the world we should be living in. Not where beautiful little girls have to live with something like this. Not where children with the wrong skin color have to fear for their lives from the very police employed to protect them. Not where women seeking health care have to wade through protesters yelling all kinds of abusive “counseling” comments. Not where people lose everything because greedy politicians can’t think beyond themselves and do what’s right for the country.
The list is endless, isn’t it? We are inundated daily with events so outrageous that they’ve become commonplace. But we cannot be silent. We have to stand up. We have to say, no more. We have a right to decide what our world looks like. How much fear are we supposed to live with? To say Officer Friendly has turned into Officer Bully is an understatement. We’ve watched the militarization of our police become the norm, so how can we expect anything else? Every time I turn around, I read another report where the DEA has gone in like gang busters to the wrong house, hurting and sometimes killing innocent people in the process. A flash bang grenade was thrown into a crib during a botched raid that left a baby in the hospital. And now I read that the family is having trouble getting the police department to pay the medical bills. When do these people have to be responsible for their actions? Never?
Chaos will always exist..but it doesn’t have to look like this. My sisters, we’ve gone off the rails I think. Down is up, night is day, and our children are not safe anymore. Our collective existence together must embrace balance. We’ve forgotten that. Without it, we have what we see now. Patriarchy has driven this, and that should have never been allowed. We must be warriors for our children. We must be warriors for our families. We must be warriors for our community. Our patriarchal system cannot survive when women stand up.
It’s time we embraced our power. It’s time we bring order to chaos. We know how to do it. We do it every day in the lives of our families. We do it every day at our jobs where we’re still paid less than men. Enough is enough. The Divine Feminine exists in each of us. It’s the energy of creation. It’s the energy that drives everything. There’s nothing we cannot accomplish if we engage as One. For that is what we are. One. One enormous, loving power.
The safety of our children means more than anything else. Without them, civilization doesn’t survive. And if the powers that be think we’re going to let that happen, then they’re sadly mistaken. My sisters..clearly it’s up to us, and there’s simply no time left to spare.
