Witch Notes: Smokey Eye Edition

I wrote this once, and it disappeared. Sometimes, I really hate WordPress. Other times, I love it. I had a really great piece that talked about Michelle Wolf’s comment about Sarah Sanders and her perfect smokey eye. Apparently, the conservatives among us along with the media are clutching their pearls over Wolf suggesting that she creates the look from the ashes of the lies she tells. She wasn’t supposed to go after a woman or a mother, according to Mika Brzezinski. Oh. My. God. I found a copy of what she said on Common Dreams. Here’s what she said:

I actually really like Sarah. I think she’s very resourceful. Like, she burns facts, and then she uses the ash to create a perfect smoky eye. Like, maybe she’s born with it; maybe it’s lies. It’s probably lies.(1)

First of all, I love that expression, clutching their pearls. But more than that, what did they think she was going to do? Wolf was hired to perform the comedy she’s known for. Did they think she’d take it easy on them? If I remember right, Colbert gave some of them pause when he appeared there. So I would think they’re apoplectic over his opening monologues these days.

These same people were just fine with the disgusting and racist comments about Michelle Obama but say something about Sarah and they go nuts. Some in the media are freaking out and some are expressing support, but I have to wonder, is their outrage due to the fact that Wolf went after them as well? Was that off limits? Did they inform her of their expectations before hiring her ? Go after Trump, but not Sarah? And whatever you do, don’t go after the press? Do they really think she would have agreed to perform under those conditions?

Trump preferred to spend his time at a rally where his supporters lapped up anything he spits out. So he sent White House staffers to take his place. Sarah Sanders stands up at the podium almost every day and is so nasty that I cannot listen to or watch her. She’s possibly the most condescending person I’ve ever seen so why she thought she would be exempt is astonishing. Everything was on the table with Obama as well as Hillary Clinton. Nothing was off limits. Ever. And if liberals said anything about it, they were called snowflakes.

Well now. Pot meet kettle. Get over yourselves.

Because it appears that the biggest snowflake of all has repeated emotional meltdowns on Twitter, demeaning anyone and everyone in the process. So WH Chief of Staff Kelly can go fuck himself and the horse he rode in on if he thinks women are more emotional than men. And now the pansy asses are prohibiting weapons at the NRA convention when Pence is there. Why? I thought a good guy with a gun stops a bad guy with a gun. I thought it was our Second Amendment right to possess firearms. Apparently, even those with carry permits will be prevented from bringing in their weapons. What are they afraid of? Aren’t NRA members the bulk of the Trump/Pence base?

I’ll ask it again. What are they afraid of? Women? Comedians? Truth?
