Transformation ~ A Geomancy Divination

Now that Donald has indicated that he would like due process to be over for people seeking asylum, I wondered, after all the upsetting information that’s been coming out, what will be the outcome of all of this drama? How will we change both as individuals and as a society? I chose the Sun as an influence along with the planetary spirit, Sorath as a focus, threw my geomancy sticks four times, and this is what I came up with. Today, I’ll only be looking at the fourth position, the Right and Left Witnesses, and the Judge for interpretation instead of reading each symbol or viewing it from an astrological House perspective.

Looking at the fourth geomancy symbol representing the end of the matter, we have Carcer, reflecting Saturn in Capricorn and Elemental Earth energies. Typical interpretations involve feeling imprisoned or bound by what no longer serves us. Considered an evil influence, Carcer in the fourth position suggests that our transformation may involve a shedding of outmoded ideas and behavior, perhaps as a result of watching the new guy’s escalating authoritarianism unfold on a daily basis. Whether it’s what he’s doing to migrant families seeking asylum or to active military, veterans and others who benefit from food stamps and other social programs, as we continue to watch in horror, maybe we’ll begin to reevaluate our fundamental beliefs surrounding how we treat each other.

Although I’m not looking at the other symbols, before moving on to the Right and Left Witnesses I wanted to note an interesting pattern. Looking at sections 3 and 4 we have Carcer and Amissio, both considered negative geomantic influences. But they combine to create Fortuna Major in section 10, a really positive influence. We see this again in sections 7 and 8 with Cauda Draconis and Puer. Cauda Draconis, unlike Caput Draconis, is also considered an evil influence, while Puer or boy may indicate a lack of impulse control, but combined together, we have a positive outcome again with Fortuna Major in section 12 so this tells me that we’re processing these negative experiences or influences and transmuting them into something positive.

The Right and Left Witnesses at the bottom of the chart are Puella and Amissio and suggest that we’ll experience some loss (Amissio), and if the trend toward authoritarianism continues, loss will be the least of what we experience. But in terms of transformation, it may be loss pertaining to any leftover illusion about who we are and what we want for our country. Puella may suggest that our real goal is unification with others, but that it will be a highly charged time filled with passion and emotion as we struggle through to the end of this nightmare.

The outcome or Judge in the reading is Via representing the internal journey we take. This is an active influence versus a passive one and indicates that inner transformation will result as we release ourselves from the prison of self to a more harmonious experience with others. But make no mistake about it, the transformation we will experience is not a reaction or an allowing, it is direct action after much outrage and/or soul-searching.

The way forward will be clear, the direction we take toward each other but the path there will be difficult. But in the end, we will chart a new direction and a new journey together.
