Somewhat Daily Tarot and Rune for 10 October 2018
Today’s tarot card and rune from Somewhat Daily Tarot and Rune were the 5 of Swords and Uruz from which I drew a comparison to today’s Supreme Court decision affecting Native American voting rights in North Dakota.
The 5 of Swords applies here as we see three individuals, two visibly wounded and one appearing to steal the swords left unprotected. What immediately came through was dishonest interaction, as if something nefarious was happening behind the scenes to give the one guy an advantage over the others.
Then, I drew Uruz from the rune bag. The second rune of the Elder Futhark, Uruz is the forming force behind manifestation. So I thought about the forming force behind our country and how that has always placed Native Americans at a disadvantage. And now the SCOTUS ruling, made possible by the new guy on the Court, is threatening the voting rights of the Native American population living in the prairie areas saying they don’t have the right sort of physical address to allow them to vote. That’s crap. Of course, this puts their ability to vote in November’s mid-term election, even though they cast their ballots in the primary, at risk. Again. That’s crap.
So you can see how the 5 of Swords and Uruz describe the forming force behind the country…authoritarianism and control over the land and the existing Native population. As I said during today’s video, there were already people living here when colonists arrived. They could have lived in harmony, but at some point, greed took over as did man’s conquering nature and here we are, centuries later, still subjugating the Native American population and suppressing their voice and their constitutional rights.
Native Americans in Alaska knew what would happen if the party boy ascended to the Supreme Court. It’s happening to their brothers and sisters in North Dakota. Their senator followed their admonitions and voted no, as did the senator from North Dakota. Time will tell what will happen in November.
