Lunar Transits for 18 December 2018

Overview

The Moon travels through Taurus and the 7th House beginning at 1:37 AM PST on 18 December 2018. For some reason, my software always presents it a minute later, so I have it listed at 1:38 AM on the chart below. With Taurus representing stability and security, it’s best to stick to regularly established routines for the next lunar period and to avoid beginning new projects. Instead, we should continue our focus on any projects that we began during the prior lunar period. In the 7th House of marriage, partnerships, and contracts, spending quality time with partners is favored as well.

In square with the Lunar Nodes, our subconscious may be revealing past feelings or awareness that if viewed from a neutral perspective might inform future endeavors. An additional strong influence can be found with the Moon conjunct Uranus. Flexibility to explore new areas of interest possibly revealed by our subconscious is favored but we may want to wait a bit before launching into something new until the Moon travels out of Taurus. A lesser influencing semisquare with Neptune reinforces the notion of flexibility by suggesting meditation or a time out should we find that our energy is low during this time.

On a more positive note, the Moon trine the Sun brings harmony and balance to the next lunar period and we may feel the support from friends and family during this time. Additionally, trusting our intuition is favored. Rely on Spirit to inform.

Working Magick

If working magick at this time, the Moon is active in the 3rd Mansion of Azoraya, providing supportive energies for travel, harvest/hunting, and alchemy. The Moon now in her waxing stage, magicks of increase are favored with an emphasis on home and hearth as well as grounding, healing, and love.

Chart Balances

Chart balances indicate that mutable or changeable energies are prolific hence the need for flexibility and going with the flow. Elemental energies descend in influence from Water to Fire to Air to Earth representing our emotions, will, intellect, and physical nature respectively.

The 4th Ray of harmony through conflict is the strongest Ray of influence during this lunar period suggesting harmony and the need to raise consciousness and achieve perfection. Standing as a mediator of as above so below influences, the 4th Ray strengthens intuition allowing the blending of lower egoic energies with those of Spirit. The 4th Ray represents our balance between the soul-oriented rays 1, 2, and 3, and the lower physical aspect rays 5, 6, and 7.

A note about the type of chart I use. I created this one to illustrate influences of both an esoteric nature as well as those I consider for magickal workings. So, this may not be the typical astrological interpretation. In esoteric astrology, the Moon is considered a dead body. In fact, according to Alice Bailey in Esoteric Astrology, it has no effect at all other than to veil both Vulcan and Uranus. A departure for sure from traditional astrology given that the Moon is extremely influential. But in traditional astrology, planets, etc. do the influencing whereas, in esoteric astrology, it’s the seven Rays that move through everything and provide the greatest influence. It recognizes that as humans progress spiritually, eventually, planetary influences will have little effect as humans return to their Source.

Then there are the stories from indigenous peoples who describe a time when the Moon was not in the sky and a time when it was driven into place. For a witch, believing this as I do ascribes new meaning to the ritual of drawing down the moon. So as I draw down Goddess presence, I give a wave to whoever is up there, watching, and bask in the loving Rays of Creation, and rest in the Great Mother’s breath.
