Scorpio Moon ~ 16-18 May 2019
The Moon travels into dramatic and secretive Scorpio and the 2nd House of possessions at 2:26 PM PDT on 16 May 2019. Intense emotional drama seems to accompany the Scorpio influence particularly during times of stress. And in the 2nd House, this may surround possessions and how we derive our emotional security. The chart is below:
Chart Information
- Mode – Cardinal energies continue their strong presence and initiating projects are favored at this time.
- Element – Earth and Water prevail over Fire and Air in particular. Guard against indecisiveness and a lack of motivation.
- Ray – the 4th Ray of Harmony through Conflict provides the strongest influence. Struggle leading to balance may occur.
- Sign – Taurus and Scorpio provide the strongest influences…practicality versus emotions, stable versus intense…perhaps Taurus providing boundaries while Scorpio challenges them?
- House – 9th House involving higher learning, academia, law, philosophy, culture.
- Quadrant – 3rd quadrant suggesting we’re most comfortable in relationships that favor objectivity over emotion.
- Retrograde – Ceres, Jupiter, Pallas, Pluto, and Saturn
- Lunar Phase – Gibbous, waxing, Full Moon in Scorpio at 27° Scorpio at 2:12 PM PDT on 18 May 2019
Aspects
We have another Yod to look at but before I do that I wanted to look at an opposition with Venus and a trine with Mars. The trine with Mars (Orb 0°29′ Applying) indicates that we’re self-confident and possess the ability to rise to any challenge; however, that same self-confidence can leave us reluctant to involve others, taking a go it alone attitude. This notion is reinforced by the opposition with Venus (Orb 1°48′ Applying) where we find it difficult to interact with others in a balanced manner.
Regarding the Yod, Mercury (in Taurus) and the North Node (in Cancer) are in sextile with each other while each is in quincunx with Jupiter (Retro, in Sagittarius). The sextile between Mercury and the North Node suggests increased mental acuity while their respective quincunx with Jupiter (currently in retrograde) creates a more unstable influence. The Mercury/Jupiter quincunx leaves us scattered and unfocused and having a difficult time getting things done while the same with Jupiter and the North Node has us reevaluating our values in an effort to align them with our goals. Given that Jupiter is the focal point, or purpose, of the Yod, it seems that the purpose of the Yod is to figure out just where we’re going in life.
The current Human Design transits add some additional depth to the planetary information. Jupiter is traveling through Gate 26 Great Amassment Line 6 Authority warning against manipulation to achieve individual success, suggesting a focus as well on the needs of others. Jupiter, as Sagittarius’s ruling planet, indicates an individual focused on religion, culture, adventure and study, so perhaps a career in education is possible with a focus on expanding the minds of others. Mercury’s influence at Gate 23 Erosion, Decline Line 2 Self-Defense reminds us of the value of good communication skills lest we get nowhere. In Taurus, Mercury supports the energy of the North Node at Gate 53 Gradualness Line 5 Assertion and its gradual, persevering influence.
Magickal Workings
Technically, the Full Moon in Scorpio occurs in the afternoon on the 18th at my house but won’t be up and visible until it moves into Sagittarius. Odd. It’s probably for the best. Sagittarius may tamp down some of the emotionalism of Scorpio’s influence. Or not. Scorpio’s too fussy for me while Sagittarius is more my speed. But then I’ve been married for forty years to a Sagittarius guy.
If a witch were to work magick on Thursday, keep in mind Jupiter’s retrograde influence and perhaps focus on some magicks involving inner work, particularly that which brings success of some kind. On Friday, love magicks can be worked and both the 16th and 17th are considered very good for magick. Making use of the Mansions on both days, Alichil and Alchab can be helpful in magicks that increase harmony and protection from enemies.
I know from experience that when who I am isn’t in alignment with what I’m doing, I might as well stop everything right there and go no further because nothing’s going to happen anyway. Humans continually struggle against their own alignment in Higher Self or Source Presence. The presence of the Yod aspect suggests that any confusion we might experience is because we’re still struggling with finding a direction or purpose. And although it may be tempting to take a solitary approach, clearly, our life’s purpose may lie with others.
It’s not easy to step outside our comfort zone and explore new possibilities, especially when it involves other people. Emotions get in the way, as does a competitive nature. Balance is necessary and although getting there may be difficult, in the end, the reward is worth the effort.
Until next time…
Lunar Blessings!
