June has arrived and it’s time again to look at the geomancy influences for the month. I’ve actually been including a geomancy rune at the end of each reading over on my YouTube show, Somewhat Daily Tarot and Rune. I post each video on the left-hand column of the blog and I decided one day to see what information it could add to the reading. And so far, it seems to be a positive addition. The breakdown follows the shield chart below:

  1. Laetitia – joy, gladness; Jupiter in Taurus; Air
  2. Albus – wisdom, sage; Mercury in Gemini; Air
  3. Carcer – imprisonment, evil, negative influence; Saturn in Capricorn; Earth
  4. Caput Draconis – beginnings; North Node in Capricorn; Earth
  5. Amissio – loss; Venus in Taurus; Earth
  6. Tristitia – sadness, grief, evil or negative influence; Saturn in Aquarius; Earth
  7. Acquisitio – gain, profit; Jupiter in Aries; Air
  8. Fortuna Major – greater fortune; Sun in Leo; Fire
  9. Amissio – loss; Venus in Taurus; Earth
  10. Cauda Draconis – endings; South Node in Sagittarius; Fire
  11. Puella – fortunate, young girl, flighty; Venus in Libra; Air
  12. Conjunctio – joining; Mercury in Virgo; Air
  13. Rubeus – passion, evil or negative influence; Mars in Scorpio; Water
  14. Puer – young boy, impulsive action; Mars in Aries; Fire
  15. Carcer – imprisonment, evil, negative influence; Saturn in Capricorn; Earth
  • Air/intellect (6)
  • Earth/physical (5)
  • Fire/will, creativity (3)
  • Water/emotions (1)
  • Week One – Laetitia, Albus, Amissio (sections 1, 2, 9)
  • Week Two – Carcer, Caput Draconis, Cauda Draconis (sections 3, 4, 10)
  • Week Three – Amissio, Tristitia, Puella (sections 5, 6, 11)
  • Week Four – Acquisitio, Fortuna Major, Conjunctio (sections 7, 8, 12)
  • Left Witness – Puer (section 13)
  • Right Witness – Rubeus (section 14)
  • Judge/Outcome – Carcer (section 15)
  • Reconciler – Tristitia (created from sections 1 and 15)

I’ll divide the upper two levels of the shield chart into four sections representing each week of the month leaving the lower three sections for an overall outlook. I’ve included a reconciler this time given that Carcer appears in the Outcome position. It may not be necessary, but I wanted it there nevertheless.

I also wanted to include one last explanation before we look at each week. Subjective language such as gain and loss indicate more than the obvious. It can also suggest a loss of a continuing situation or experience. In other words, an ending of some kind. Now, if it’s the loss of love, that certainly falls in the obvious category, but you can see that this is about energetic flow as well.

Week One

Laetitia, Albus, and Amissio begin the month suggesting both joy and loss may be experienced, however, wisdom and clarity should prevail enabling us to keep both in perspective. Taurus energy is present in both Laetitia and Amissio and with the wise counsel from Albus, it suggests a balanced perspective. With respect to Amissio’s loss, however, we could be experiencing the loss of unwanted attention, hence the joy felt with Laetitia. My mother was a Taurus. She would have met this week with resolve and humor.

Week Two

We begin week two with another set of opposites, Caput and Cauda Draconis, suggesting beginnings and endings. In the center, we have Carcer indicating imprisonment of some kind, either real or perceived. This may suggest a higher level of perception in play this week or an ending to a restriction of some kind we’ve been experiencing. If this week continues the energetic flow of week one, we may still be processing whatever loss was experienced but during this week, we see that any restriction still felt may be self-imposed.

The presence of Caput Draconis and its relationship to the North Node of the Moon indicates new beginnings, opportunities, and positive change. Conversely, Cauda Draconis, governed by the South Node of the Moon, exhibits the energy of endings and letting go of that which no longer serves. Carcer is governed by Saturn in Capricorn, so there’s already a sense of practicality and a methodical approach, and a feeling of self-imprisonment may be a result of that process. Coupled with Carcer, again, this energetic triplicity may also be suggesting that any restrictions experienced, particularly emotional, may be self-imposed and we’re now ready to let that go.

Week Three

Emotions may be in flux with Amissio, Tristitia, and Puella creating the energetic triplicity this week. As I indicated in week one, Amissio can indicate any kind of loss, not necessarily involving grief of sorrow, but with the appearance of Tristitia, that may be exactly what we experience this week. Trisitita suggests sorrow, grief, condemnation, and thought to be a wholly evil influence. Puella’s influence is flighty and although fortunate, somewhat unstable, even with Venus in Libra governing. Perhaps we’re still transitioning from issues experienced in week one and trying to establish an inner balance. Stay in a positive and progressive focus, express integrity, and avoid Tristitia’s tendency to carry grudges.

Week Four

Acquisitio, Fortuna Major, and Conjunctio bring a positive end to the month of June with the energy for goal-directed success. Virgo’s effect on Conjunctio suggests a practical approach to our endeavors that likely provides the impetus for our success this week. The Sun in Leo governs Fortuna Major suggesting the inner drive for success and good fortune while Acquisitio reinforces the goal-directed experience.

Right and Left Witnesses and the Judge

These three sections can provide an overall outcome or give us more insight into the basis for the reading. In this case, Mars energy governs both Rubeus and Puer, the Right and Left Witnesses and may provide an understanding of what was at the heart of the loss and self-imprisonment we felt during the month. Carcer appears in the Judge or outcome position which reinforces this experience. Passion and a lack of impulse control are expressed by both Rubeus and Puer indicative of the Martial influence and contribute to a sense of emotional entitlement. Self-imprisonment is the ultimate result as we cannot seem to let go of a subjective focus that may keep us from moving on to a better frame of mind. Because these three particular geomantic runes appeared at the end, I decided to make use of the Reconciler.

The Reconciler

Whenever there seems to be the need for an additional perspective, a reconciler can be used. This is found by combining the Judge with the geomantic rune in section one of the shield chart. In this case, we’re combining Carcer with Laetitia. Right away, we can see the opposing energy here, restrictive and flowing. Together, they combine to create Tristitia, a rune of sorrow, grief, and lost perspective illustrating the negative effect of such a choice.

Instead of an outcome per se I think the lower section is describing how our focus affects everything. We choose our experiences, or at least our perception of those experiences, and it’s clear how loss, either real or perceived, can interrupt a progression forward.

June is a six energy and reflects harmony and balance along with a Higher Self perspective. If there’s an overall perspective that’s needed, it’s that we allow Spirit to inform all that we are and all that we extend to others.

Until next month…or Monday through Thursday on Somewhat Daily Tarot and Rune…

Blessings to all!
