Capricorn Moon ~ 17-19 June 2019
The Moon travels into focused Capricorn and the 5th House of creativity, love, and children at 9:14 AM PDT on 17 June 2019 until it enters Aquarius at 7:01 PM PDT on the 19th. Fun may be at odds with commitments over the next lunar period. If we can find a way to balance our structured and focused side with a little letting go, who knows what our creativity will accomplish. The chart is below:
Chart Information (with weighted scoring)
- Mode/Quality – Mutable (10), Cardinal (9), Fixed (7) illustrating the pull between focus and a lack thereof.
- Element – Fire (7), Earth (9), Air (5), Water (5) suggesting practical matters weigh the heaviest with issues of will either supporting or challenging that focus.
- Ray – weighted averages have the Rays in balance, but it’s easy to see that the 1st (will/power), 3rd (active intelligence), 4th (harmony through conflict), and the 7th (ceremonial order and magick) work together to either find a balance between commitments and play time or to make a choice between the two.
- Sign – chatty and flighty Gemini and disciplined Capricorn provide the strongest influences reinforcing the challenge between play and a focus on responsibilities.
- House – 5th (creativity, self-expression, play), 11th (friendships, hopes, dreams), and 12th (endings, hidden strengths/weaknesses, spirituality, service to others) provide the strongest influences
- Hemisphere/Quadrant
- 4 hemispheres (North – 9), Eastern (10), Western (10), Southern (10)
- 4 quadrants – 1st (0), 2nd (9), 3rd (1), 4th (10) suggest receptivity/sensitivity to others (2nd) yet a desire exists to stand apart from others in an effort to succeed (4th)
- Aspects of the Moon
- Opposition the Sun – Orb 3°48′ Separating – imbalance between will (ego) and emotion
- Trine Uranus – Orb 5°24′ Applying – unique or unconventional influence expressing many ideas
- Square Chiron – Orb 5°44′ Applying – emotional wounding is a factor leading to feelings of being misunderstood.
- Trine Vesta – Orb 3°19′ Applying – Vesta oversees the sacred within the mundane
- Quincunx Juno – Orb 1°40′ Separating – nurturing self and others are Juno’s domain and here we’re tasked with keeping both in balance.
- Human Design/I Ching
- 6/17 – Gate 10 Conduct Line 2 Hermit – suggest humility and a focus on moderation
- 6/18 – Gate 38 Opposition/Disharmony Line 4 Investigation suggests the energy present for conflict
- Active channels (both days) Channel 12-22 – Openness
- Retrograde – Ceres (issues of self-nurturing), Jupiter (inward focus), Pluto (dealing with karmic debt), and Saturn (revisit old issues, inward discipline)
- Lunar Phase – Full on 6/17 at 1:31 AM PDT at 25°Sag53′
Aspects
Both the Elemental and Mode/Qualities influences seem to reinforce a conflict between will and emotions and avoiding a pity party may be challenging, particularly if Chiron’s influence has anything to say about it. Capricorn’s determination may provide the strongest influence, but with the Sun in flighty Gemini, that may still not be enough to stay focused. The need for stimulation may override anything we actually need to accomplish over the next few days.
Human Design uses I Ching hexagrams to further define the planetary influences and here we see that humility may be in order along with a focus on moderation given the tendency on the 18th toward conflict. If we allow our will to help us stay in control over our own choices instead of running amok with all of it, we might be able to strike a more appropriate balance between self and others.
Magickal Workings
Inner and outer balance seems to be the issue over the next few days so inner workings involving balance are probably in order. We’ll still be in the Full Moon tonight and any intentions set on the New Moon can be brought to fruition this evening. Maiden workings may have been worked yesterday and Crone workings tomorrow, but tonight we can find fulfillment in and work expansive magicks under our beautiful Mother Moon.
Crystals for a Full Moon altar include selenite, the various quartzes (faden is a favorite), and moonstone is also beautiful to have on hand. If performing working involving healing, malachite is useful as is amethyst. I often use white and/or silver candles during the Full Moon, however, I’ve also been known to use silver for Maiden, white for Mother, and black for Crone if creating a triple-goddess themed altar. Frankincense can be burned for healing and revelation, copal for purification, dragon’s blood for strength and clarity, and pine can be burned for banishing or protection workings.
The Full Moon begins in Sagittarius but at 9:14 AM PDT she moves into Capricorn. Monday magicks during the evening can be assisted by Capricorn’s initiating influence on healing and transformation. Workings on Tuesday, also the Crone phase of the Full Moon, may want to take a suppressive focus if conflict arises. Here, the Crone influence may be of use to tamp down any nonsense. A binding spell might not be necessary, but a bindrune may be helpful nonetheless. I allow the runes to dictate the bindrune after setting my intention, but a witch can use whatever method s/he prefers.

Final Thoughts
It can be difficult to stay focused when we need to when summer calls. But this Moon in Capricorn, particularly with the influence of the Moon’s aspects, feels like a challenge between emotional wounding and taking care of our practical needs. In other words, this has to do with where we place our focus. If we become stuck in thoughts of emotional wounding then the initiative Capricorn energy influences that focus. If we let go of those wounded thoughts and feelings, then we can put Capricorn’s energy to better use.
Until next time…
Lunar Blessings!
